In the beginning... the world did not know cards.
That is until The Scrybes arrived.
Each had their own method of... Inscryption to create cards.
Grimora used her quill to inscrybe the epitaphs of the dead.
Leshy used his wildlife camera to capture beasts.
P03 used a particle scanner to copy the CPU's of robots.
Magnificus used his brush to paint his wizard pupils.
And (Y/N) used their (I/M) to inscrybe their followers.
With the cards created, The Scrybes had solidified their power. Each Scrybe was given their own island to reign, the islands being loosely connected by wooden bridges. This set up was originally meant to prevent arguments between the five Scrybes as everyone had their own lands to rule however they pleased, but it did little to help and in some ways only increased tensions between the five leaders. They always had something to say about one another and their disagreements started to rub off on the people of the islands, who would take sides early on, usually with the Scrybe they lived by.
(Y/N) quickly grew tired of the consistent fighting and, seeing the whole ordeal as the pointless mess it was, decided to shut off connections with the other Scrybes as best as they could, secluding themselves and focusing solely on their work. Little did they know that this decision would lead to them being oblivious about a certain race between the other four, one a certain beast would win.
