The truck that the other people are in, backs slowly into the parking lot with the trunk open. Cody's body lies there. Cold. Bloody. But happy. Draughon, Jace and I are in front of the crowd, for we knew him the most. The four new comers stay inside the truck to let us grieve for a moment without disruption. All of us pay respect to him. A girl about my age with icy blomde hair comes out with a watch. Cody's watch. She hands it to Draughon. It was a black and red G-Shock watch. He stuffs it in his pocket and commands," Put him in the ocean."
Draughon and Jace carry the upper half of him while I have his legs. In an instant of bringing Cody across the street an onto the beach, we lay him in the water and let the shallow waves do the rest.
It was time to let go...
All three of us watch as his body floats out into the silhouette of the evening ocean waters."So..." Jace abruptly says. "What's next?"
Draughon sighs. "I don't know. Cody said to just follow the orders of the new people." He turns around to start walking back to the motel. "Who knows if we can trust them?"
"Well, that all really depends on what they want. I'm not going with some strangers on peculiar errands. And with my hunch of how these people appear, they don't look so good." Jace says.
Once we reach the hotel again, we drop the conversation so the new four people don't overhear. "Jace and I will sit down to talk to these people. See what their intentions are." Draughon says.
"Want me to come with you? We can never be too safe." I suggest, hoping they'll let me come with them.
Jace stands in between Draughon and I."Sorry Drew bu-"
"Come on, what happen to the council? Shouldn't we all go in as a council?" I ask.
Jace and Draughon thre an ugly sneer at me." Do you realize how long you've been to a council meeting? I thought it was obvious that it didn't work out with you a part of it." Draughon snobbishly cracks like the brat he is.
I felt dumbfounded for not realizing this before." Whatever bitch." I mutter while walking away with my shoulders shrugged high and my hands rested in the pockets of my jacket.
Heading my way to Clancy's room, I stumble over a pile of garbage. The wind blows part of the trash away afterwards. The cracked sidewalk has weeds growing feet high, screaming to be let free. I knock on room 102 right after Draughon and Jace walk into room 101 with the four new people and interrogate them. I knock again. No answer. I peek through the window. The curtains are closed. I assume she doesn't wanna talk. But my stubborn personality has taken over. So I let myself in. The lights are off. An eerie feeling crawls up my spine. I see the glistening artificial gleam peaking under the indention of the bathroom door and moan like sobs are drug out in the small space. From force of habit, thinking she's in trouble, I kick the door open. The only trouble she's having to have is herself. Clancy holds a shard of glass in one hand with her other hand near the wrist area, covered with thin slits of red, bloody marks.
"Stop!" She yells with tears pouring down. "Go away! I don't wanna be seen!" All she can do is simply get as far away from me as possible. She heads for the shower, blocking me off with the curtains shouting at me to get away.
"Clancy please, I'm trying to help!" I confront her.
"The only good you can do is by leaving! You've done enough!" She replies with sniffles of pain.
"Clancy!"I demand. "Come out here!"
"No!" She shouts.
With no thoughts at all, I yank the curtains away and grab the last remaining toilet paper in the room go wrap around her wrists. "Dammit Clancey, are you trying to kill this baby?" I bark.
