IVY ZEAH'S POV

I stand before my parents' tomb, years after their passing. The pain still lingers, though I can't recall specific memories with them, whether good or bad. It's a strange feeling.

Fate has kept me apart from them for so long, even erasing memories. It seems fate holds a grudge against me.

"I love you both. I wish you were here with me," I whisper into the air, wiping away the tears from my cheeks as I step away from their resting place.

After a short walk, I reach the bus stop, waiting for my ride to work as usual. Impatience sets in until a red convertible catches my eye, speeding towards me. Moments later, it halts before me, and the driver removes his shades, revealing Sir Ryker's face.

"Good morning, Ivy. Hop in," he says with a wide smile.

Confused, I hesitate, but when I see a bus approaching, I quickly accept his offer, not wanting to cause any trouble. He starts the car immediately.

"Thank you, sir. It's very kind of you," I manage to say over the rush of wind and speed.

Despite my initial reservations, I find myself enjoying the ride, feeling alive as the sun kisses my skin.

After thirty minutes, we stop near the police station, which surprises me. I had expected to go to his coffee shop.

Sir Ryker seems to be waiting for someone, and I can't help but ask.

"Um... who are you waiting for, sir?" I inquire, feeling a bit shy.

"I'm waiting for Will. I brought him lunch," he replies, gesturing to the bag beside him.

"Detective Brooks?" I ask, my brow furrowed.

"Yes," he confirms.

"I'll just deliver it to Detective Brooks so we don't have to wait," I suggest, taking the bag before leaving the car.

Sir Ryker doesn't object, so I head towards the police station, worried about being late for work.

Inside, the station is bustling with activity. I spot Detective Brooks approaching, looking somewhat agitated.

"Detective Brooks, here's your-" I begin, but he cuts me off abruptly.

"What are you doing here?" he demands, pulling me aside.

Not wanting to provoke him further, I hand over the bag without finishing my sentence. He looks furious, and I feel a sense of fear wash over me.

"Get out of here," he orders, his gaze intense.

Terrified, I leave at once, wondering what's wrong with him. The last time we met, he even offered to walk me home. Now, he's downright scary, his eyes filled with anger.

Later, as I find myself in front of Sir Ryker's car, lost in thought, he asks if I'm okay. I offer a smile and climb back into the car.

THIRD PERSON POV

"You found her," Lieutenant Adira Isabelle remarks.

"It's just a coincidence." Detective Brooks replied seriously.

"Protect her, Detective. You know she's still in danger," The lieutenant urges.

"I'll protect her, not just because it's my duty, but because she's my princess," Detective Brooks declare before walking away.
