Y/N pov

After I regain consciousness I sit up and realize that I'm not in egypt anymore but in a decaying city started to panic thinking that I was captured and left to die then I realized that was a stupid thought I decided to find shelter before I check my gear and started walking down the street

After 10 minutes of walking I found an abandoned shop I went in and kneeled down took of off my pack and checked my gear

Y/N:assault rifle with 4 mags, revolver 12 bullets, combat knife, 6 m.r.e's, three bottles of water, a full canteen, flare gun, distress beacon, and my phone and headphones

Wait how did phone and headphones get in my pack anyways I turned on the beacon and waited for help

Lazy time skip

As I sat there as I heard a helicopter coming without thinking I grabbed the flare gun and ran outside there was a helicopter flying toward me I shot the flare and began waving my arms like a maniac inorder to get there attention and it worked they started landing but something was off for it being a black hawk it was huge and the markings where wrong I started to get nervous

Y/N(in head):I don't think these are americans

After they landed three people exited and started walking to him at first he thought they were friendly but as they got closer they raised there rifles at him

Y/N:oh shit

Nika pov

As we landed I noticed that the person who shot the flare was wearing military gear as we exited the helicopter and started walking I order Jack and Cynder to to be ready to fire In case it was an ambush as we got closer I herad them say oh shit and they turned around and started running

Nika:STOP!!

They weren't listening and I knew that we wouldn't be able to catch them on foot so I aimed down my sights and shot there leg it connected. They landed on there face and we quickly ran over picked them up and started asking questions

Nika:who are you and why are you here?

Y/N:...

I noded towards Jack he noded back and kick the leg with a 1 inch hole in it they grunted but still weren't talking

Nika:Cynder take off there helmet.

Cynder:yes ma'am.

she took off the helmet I finally saw who I shot it was a human we all sat there I awkward silence until the human spat out blood

Nika:get him in heli now! Jack Can you patch him up?

Jack: I'll see what I can do.

As I was running towards the heli I a saw bunch of gear in a building I grabbed the gear and and climbed into the heli then we took off

Nika:Nika to command come in over.

Command: did you find the source of the signal.

Nika:yes we were right it was coming from a human but he's injured and in need of medical attention.

Command:ok go to the hospital in haven city they'll be expecting you.

Nika:yes sir over and out

After I was done talking with command I looked down at the human and felt a stab of guilt he didn't look older then 18 I shot a fucking kid

Cynder pov

I looked at Nika and saw she was on the verge of crying

Cynder:Nika what's wrong

She looks down at the human and I realize why she about to cry the human was a kid I got up and sat next to her and tried to comfort her

Nika pov

We finally reached the hospital and landed we were greeted with two doctors pulling the human out and putting him on a stretcher while they were doing this her motherly instincts kick in

Nika(in head):I promise that as long as I live no will hurt you ever again

Cynder:hey what's on your mind

Nika:I-I was thinking about adopting him since there just a kid

Cynder:I think you've seen to much action today why don't

Before she could finished the commander walked up and started talking

Commander:Nika I wanted to congratulat you on successful missions but I need to know how was the human injured?

Nika:um I um shot him

Commander:you shot him! You lucky the humans still alive or you would have gotten a life sentence in prison

Nika:I know sir but I want to ask you something?

Commander:fine ask away

Nika:I was wondering if I could retire and adopt the human

He looked at you surprised that you said that then he thought about it

Commander:well we were going to give him housing and make it so he was excluded from paying taxes but this seems like a better alternative. Are sure you want to do this?

Nika:yes sir.

Commander:okay then after the human is released from the hospital he will be in your care and you will retire until then you an your squad will stay here and guard him understood

Nika:yes sir!

Commander:dismissed

Then he walked away you turn to Cynder and Jack both of them looking at you like your insane

Nika:what I've always wanted a family and this my chance to have one.

Cynder:I know but I wasn't expecting you to retire

Jack:I don't know what we'll do without you

Nika:well I still have one last mission before I retire

They follow you inside the hospital and you know this may be the last time you see the for a long time
