"I can't listen to another word you say!" Nick wines, covering his ears with his pillow. I've been sitting in Nick's room since Matt dropped me off, trying to work out what's going on. "You like him. You have done for years. I've spent that whole time listening to you complain about how much you like Matt, but can't do anything about it, and when you're presented with the chance to confess your feelings, after he has done so, you freak out because maybe you don't feel that way?" He groans, as I flop backwards onto the hard floor.
"But it was so un-Matt-like. If you'd have been there you'd understand why I'm so confused. Like it wasn't him at all. What if he doesn't like me? It'll ruin our entire friendship."
"If Matt said it, he means it. He wouldn't say something like that and not mean it."
"But it felt as though someone who wasn't Matt was in Matt's body," I say the sentence, although worded differently, for the seven-hundredth time, causing yet another exasperated gasp to escape Nick.
"Do you guys know what's wrong with Matt?" Chris' head suddenly pops round the door. "He's not come out of his room since he got home." Then he looks at me with a wave, "I mean neither have you so hey Jordyn, but you've been with Nick so I'm not worried."
"I'm sure he's just tired," I try to give him a convincing smile. "We were up late, and he had to deal with my family. And now it's like," I glance at my watch, "ten in the evening, and he probably wants to sleep."
"Or you're ignoring him and he's heartbroken," Nick glares at me.
"Why would Matt be heartbroken about Jords ignoring him?" Chris raises an eyebrow
"Because Jordyn-" Nick starts but I hit him
"Shut your face Nicholas!"
"Did y'all like fake break up, or something?" Chris' brow furrows
"Yeah sure," I roll my eyes
"No," Nick starts, "Matt's in l-"
"Shut up Nick!" I shout.
"C'mon, what am I not knowing?" Chris pleads. "You all can't know something and leave me in the dark!"
"He's got a point," Nick looks at me, and after a moment's pause, I slowly nod. "Jordyn has been in love with Matt for years and this morning when he went to hers, Matt found this knowledge out."
"Wait. Rewind!" At this, Chris turns his head. "You like my brother?"
"Kind of?"
"No she likes him. A lot." Nick sighs. "Anyway she has this diary sort of thing where she writes lists, and Matt read a list about him, where it said he was kissable. So he found out she likes him and said that she too was kissable-"
"So he likes her!?" Chris is now sat next to Nick, listening to every word. "Why haven't I been told about this?"
"Yeah he likes her. I have no idea why he hasn't told us, told you, but he hasn't. And if he's locked himself in his room, he's clearly pretty upset, so maybe we don't need to mention it to Matt," Chris nods slowly. "But Jordyn says he wasn't acting like himself when he said it, so she doesn't believe he actually does like her, and thus has spent the whole day ignoring him."
"Jordy, it's so late, you've got to go talk to him." Chris lightly beats me. Okay, more gently whacks me round the arm a couple of times.
"You're right, it's late. I'll do it tomorrow." I lean against the bed, but force myself up when I see their faces. "Fine. Fine. This is your fault Nicholas. If this goes wrong."
"It wont go wrong," Nick insists,
"And you know that how?"
"It's literally Matt," Chris points out. I know he's right.
