It was dark as the agents of the protocol panicked, the tension of worry had begun to increase, especially Yoru's. Sage was currently in your room as everybody waited for the results from the healer, the agents could do nothing other than stand and walk around nervously. As time flew, the door to your room slowly opened to reveal Sage. Everyone started to run towards her as they were ready for the big news, feeling eager.
"Everybody, calm down. The good new's is that C/N can still make it, the bad news is that she might need to take a break for at least two weeks because her leg was severely injured, it would be best to give her the rest she needs," Sage announced.
The agents felt relieved as they sighed, joyful cheers came from them as Sage smiled. As they cheered, the riftwalker bumped into the lively group as he spoke up. "Hey Sage, the kids that were taken are now feeling great, no one was hurt," Yoru tapped her shoulder, earning for her to turn around as she replied, "Alright, great, I'll do check up on them. You can check on C/N, she's alright," Sage said sweetly. Yoru's face lit up as he pushed, "R-really?!" he exclaimed. Sage grinned at him as she raised an eyebrow curiously, "Why so happy?" she asked. Yoru snapped, he awkwardly stood still as he responded, "Oh, it's nothing, y-yeah," he muttered. Sage giggled as she patted him on the shoulder and began walking away from the cold man, walking into the hallway as the healer began to check up on the children.
Yoru sighed as he joined the rest of the agents that were currently in your room, almost nervous as he walked into the room. He was anxious, the agents surrounded you, asking you questions and wanting to know if you were alright. He slowly joined in as he crossed his arms, everybody noticed the riftwalker chime in as they all suddenly turn their heads to him, making Yoru clear his throat.
"Hey, uh... C/N," Yoru greeted awkwardly.
You were speechless, still remembering the confession as you fiddled with your thumbs. "H-hey Yoru," you responded, not looking at him in the eye as you continued to fidget. Yoru then proceeded to walk beside you as everybody watched him making his way towards you, you felt confused as he knelt down. You noticed his torso was shaking, concerned, you rested your hand on his shoulder.
"Ru? what's wrong?" You asked.
You paused as you waited for a response from him, he didn't say anything as he lowered his head down more until it finally clicked. He was crying, sobbing silently. Not wanting to embarrass him, you whispered to Neon who was on the other side of Yoru. You silently told her to usher everyone out of the room to give you and Yoru privacy, Neon agreed as she called everyone, steering the agents out of your room to give you the privacy you needed.
As they all left your room, you sighed as you dabbed him on the shoulder gently, earning for him to lift his head up slightly. You witness the tears running down his cheeks as he continues to sob, you were shocked, you never saw Yoru cry so much as it made you instinctively move closer to him. Feeling more worried, you asked, "Yoru, is everything okay?" The riftwalker sighed loudly as he replied, shaky, "N-no, you think it was okay?!" he practically shouted as he was crying uncontrollably.
"Yoru, calm down now, I'm fine!" You reassured him.
"You were about to die, are you crazy?!" he yelled.
"I-I know but..." You replied as your voice trailed off, pausing to speak as you replied eventually, "Why'd you care? I mean-" you asked but was interrupted by Yoru's loud tone.
"I like you too, damnit! I fucking love you so much you don't even know! Plus, you just... seem to even like me too, I guess and your way more fun to hang out with so yeah... but that isn't the point! I'm just saying this stuff cause... yeah, it's just like that...so," Yoru spoke up, unsure of what to say in the process. You looked at him with a surprised expression, blinking your eyes a couple of times as you could not believe what came out of his mouth. "W-what?" you said in unison. "You didn't lie about the part when you told me you like me, right?" Yoru huffed as he crossed his arms and a small blush crept on his face. You gulped as you replied, "I-I mean, yeah, I didn't lie about that part..." you then try to hide your beet-red face, turning away from his direction as you hear his footsteps come nearer towards you.
"Hey, I mean, does this mean that we both like... uh- have a crush on each other or what?" Yoru said in an awkward manner.
"I-I mean... I guess..." You vaguely replied.
"Well, if that's the case... does that mean were...erm... dating?" Yoru asked.
You flinched from the sentence as you blushed more furiously, you turned to him as you responded, "What are you trying to imply?" Yoru fidgeted as he put both his hands on the back, swaying back in forth with his heel. "I mean, y'know what I mean," he said. You were hesitant, pausing for a moment. Eventually, you replied as you muttered, "If you wanna go out then... I won't mind it at all."
"Am I really that attractive?" Yoru said with a grin on his face.
"Shut up," you laughed.
Within a flash, you were caught off guard as Yoru suddenly pressed his lips against yours. Your eyes widened in shock as you felt a wave of emotion crash over you. You felt speechless, your face becoming redder as you hesitantly kissed back. The riftwalker pulled away as you looked at him with an awkward smile, chuckling as you were unsure of what to say next with Yoru giving you a proud smile back.
"WHAT THE HELL! YUCK, I DIDN'T NEED TO SEE THAT!" A young familiar voice shouted out.
You and Yoru whipped your head to see your brother, John, screaming as Sage stood in the open frame of your room, crossing her arms with a smirk painted on her face. "You traumatized the kid, C/N and Yoru. You should both apologize," Sage said jokingly. You felt embarrassment hit you as you stammered, "Wh-what the heck, Sage! Don't barge in like that!".
You faced your young brother as he came up running towards you, "Y/n, I didn't know you had a boyfriend!" John said, furrowing his eyebrows to you as you snickered. "Well, I and Ryo have been dating for a minute. Calm down," you spoke.
"Hmph, your boyfriend even has a dumb name," he pouted.
"Hey, you better take that back!" Yoru spoke up.
You burst out of laughter as you interrupted the two boys, "Alright boys, calm down," you said, breaking the two boys as they both huffed. Sage cleared her throat as you shifted your attention towards her as she said, "Everybody, attention, please. Dinner will be available soon so I suggest everyone heads to the kitchen." "But Sage, I can't really... y'know," you spoke up. You then felt a hand touch your shoulder, earning you to turn to Yoru as he said, "It's fine, I can carry you to the kitchen unless you want to eat here instead." "I think I'd eat here, for now, my legs are still healing," you replied. "Alright, guess I'm eating here too then," Yoru said.
"Heh, I love you very much," You say, nudging his arm.
"Tch whatever, I love you too," Yoru scoffed.
