Simon followed Jeanette down the stairs to the basement.
When she opened the door, he was amazed at how enormous the room was.
It was old and dusty but it had an authentic feel. There was even a huge table for Simon to do paperwork, and maybe hold a few of his experiments.
"Wow..."
"You like it?" Jeanette asked as they both walked around the basement.
"Yeah, I do. Maybe I can even hold my appointments down here." Simon said, admiring the dusty table.
He knew people would be more than happy to come, considering the fact that his office would be in the castle their people longed to live in themselves.
"We just need to fix it up a bit and it'll be all yours!" Jeanette said excitedly, realizing Simon was now willing to stay.
"Yes, this'll work fine." Simon said.
He felt like a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. He never wanted to leave the town that held his one and only Jeanette.
Simon knew deep down that he'd never find anyone like her again. Jeanette was a once in a lifetime person, and he didn't want to lose the special friendship he'd grown with her throughout the years.
She had stolen his heart, locked it and destroyed the key. Neither Simon nor Jeanette wanted to have her let it go.
He'd just wished he had the courage to ask for a relationship more than friendship.
Simon knew if Jeanette even considered saying 'yes' he'd treat her exactly how she should be treated.
And not just because she's royalty.
The two left the room and Jeanette handed Simon the key to the basement.
"I'll order the maids to clean up as soon as possible, Simon." She told him.
"It's alright, it can wait for a while. I still need to get some things for my experiments and, I guess, inform everyone that I'm their new doctor as well." He explained.
"Alright. Oh! Ellie and Theodore made some new pastries if you want to-" Jeanette was interrupted by their butler.
"Miss Jeanette?"
"Y-yes John?" She replied.
"Sir David and Prince Alvin have arrived." He explained.
"What?! They weren't supposed to arrive until tomorrow!" She nervously said.
"What would you like me to tell them?" He asked.
"Uh, nothing. Just tell them to wait in the dining room and I'll be there in a minute." She ordered.
"As you wish, madam." Then he left to go deliver the message.
"Is that the Prince you were talking about earlier?" Simon asked.
"Yes..." She replied with annoyance in her voice.
