"Darling, Fleur, how are you?" My mother's voice screeched through the phone. I didn't know how to react. We hadn't had contact for three years after my dad died and now she just shows up? Er... calls rather.

"Don't call me Fleur." I cringed at my birth name, "and why are you... where.. why are you calling me?" I asked finally.

"Why honey, I can talk to my daughter now can't I? After all I always kept track on that sad museum that's now out of commission." She said.
I cringed at her words but stayed silent.

"And the news said you had 'great support from your friends and boyfriend'? Including the attack of course that was just dreadful." Mom said. I still didn't speak. "Anywho, I'm coming to visit. Me and Martin would like to move back to.. that place."

I walked into the empty hallway, Sans' and Papyrus' voice in the living room. "Why are you coming back?"

"Fleur, you're part of a family that is perfection. I need to make sure you and your friends are up to standards. You do know your name is all over the news?" Mom added. I twirled a piece of hair around my shoulder.

"And you heard about Carl?"

"Yes yes very sad. We are arriving by tomorrow morning and staying in the Radish Hotel- whatever that name is."

Even though it was over the phone I could basically see her checking her nails and biting her lip obnoxiously. I had mixed feelings about seeing her and really did not want her to see my friends...

"So who is this 'boyfriend' that I've heard about?" She pressed.

I didn't say anything but simply hung up the phone and sat down on the floor. I was stunned but couldn't believe she was coming tomorrow.

"hey?"

I jumped up and faced Sans who had an eyebrow raised.

"H-hey." I managed a fake smile. He tilted his head in confusion as if he was thinking hard. I'm sure Sans could definitely tell I was bothered.

"are you ok?"

I shoved my phone in my back pocket and brushed imaginary bangs out of my face. "Wanna go hang out with Pap or.. something."

Sans' face stayed serious and he reached to my cheek and wiped a tear away that I didn't even know was there. His frown was set and serious and his pupils small. One hand remained in his hoodie pocket and the other stayed on my cheek.

"what happened?" He said in a very low voice. I checked if there were any other tears and, not finding any, I held my chin up. I was trying to be more brave and not let my emotions break me down.

"My mom is coming tomorrow." I said.

"mom? you never talked about her." Sans raised an eyebrow. I thought for a moment.

"Well she is. So.." I walked away and down to the living room and sat on the couch. "Where's Papyrus?"

"not sure. Leah, why are you so upset about your ma coming?" Sans said, his accent really showing then.

I wondered how he could've had an accent like that unless one of his parents did. He never talked about them either.

"I haven't seen her in a long time since my dad left us." I said, trying to stay cool. Sans still stood in front of me, his face serious.  I continued, "and my face was in the papers and news after the attack. My family was really wealthy and a big deal in her city. Not sure if she still is, but anyways..."

Sans sat in the chair across from the sofa.

"Since I obviously have good press right now or whatever... she wants that. So my mom is coming to try and meet you." I finished. Sans rested his skull against his fist.
