Chapter 9: unreal

Why was I doing this???

Robin was hastily walking away from family video and towards the wheelers house.
After a chat with Steve her impulsiveness seemed to take over as she began walking to Nancys trying to calm her shuddering breaths on the way.
Steve wasn't particularly good at giving advice nor was he right all the time, but he seemed to have pushed something in Robin's mind, something that she had been wanting to do for a long time. She was lost in her emotions as she started to pick up her pace on the sidewalk.

Left then right, then past the first street and on the right.

She quickly walked up to the door that she knew to be the wheelers and, not giving herself anytime to think, knocked on it.

Oh fuck what am I doing

Robin almost turned around to leave when the door opened and out peered Michael wheeler, Nancy's little brother. "Robin? What are you doing here?" Mike asked after seeing it was Robin, "I uh- im here to see nancy?" Robin replied uncertainty lacing her voice, "Umm ok she's in her room I think" Mike stated looking a tad confused as to why Robin was here.

Robin could feel her stomach flipping and her palms sweating as she climbed the steps towards Nancy's room.
She hesitated but knocked on the door to the bedroom she had been in so many times before.
Robin stood outside the door hearing shuffling coming from the inside followed by a muffled "come innnn", without another thought Robin opened the door and stood face to face with a tired looking Nancy.

Both of the girls cheeks flushed red but Nancy was the first to speak "Robin? Um-what are you doing here?" Robin walked into the room and Nancy closed the door, "Nancy about last night..." she started, Nancy looked at her, worry filling her emotions, she knew what this was about. She almost didn't want to hear Robin speak but her words broke through Nancy's troubled thoughts. "I-um listen you were really drunk last night, like really drunk and I don't know if you ment this or if you even remember it but- uh when we were in the bathroom, you sorta kinda told me you liked me?" Robin rambled looking at the girl who was avoiding eye contact and looking embarrassed, "oh god Robin, fuck I'm so so sorry" the curly haired girl said in a frantic tone pacing around her bedroom. Just as Nancy was about to continue Robin spoke up, "you don't need to apologise"  she almost whispered standing in front of Nancy stopping her from pacing. The girl looked up making eye contact for the first time that afternoon her breaths shuddering and her hands shaking.

Nancy never wanted to stop looking into robins eyes, she was lost and she didn't want to be found, only ever wanting to stay in that moment.

The moment did end though, right when Robin brought her lips to Nancy's.

Robin pressed her lips against Nancy's, half expecting her to pull away and yell at her, but to her surprise she kissed back. Nancy was now holding the taller girl by her tie to pull her more into the kiss. The kiss had a million thoughts and feelings condensed into it, it was gentle, soft and sweet slowly turning into something more passionate as Robin's hands made their way to Nancy's waist holding it firmly, lightly pulling the girl in closer to her.
The two where now making out while Nancy was walking slowly backwards being careful not to break the contact with their lips. Robin gently pinned Nancy to the wall still kissing her.

Both of them wished they could stay like that forever, but of course at some point they both pulled away slightly gasping for air, Nancy still pinned to the wall by Robin's arm. Both of their faces where bright red.
Nobody said anything until there was a sharp knock on the door and the two quickly pulled away from each other.

Mike opened the door and stared at the two red girls that were trying to catch their breaths.  "Umm- mum just wanted my to tell you that she's going to the shops, so you need anything?" he hesitated glancing at Robin, "nope! We're good" Nancy replied hurriedly closing the door sighing slightly when doing so.

"Um- so..." Robin started but failing to put together a sentence, "yeah..." Nancy muttered somehow getting exactly what Robin wanted to say, "I'm sorry" Robin finally formulated, "I should have asked you and I kinda just went for it but-" Robin was cut off by Nancy laughing "Robin, it's ok. I like you, like really like you" Nancy said slightly holding her breath. "Oh thank god" Robin sighed falling back onto the bed, Nancy giggled again and lay next to her, "I'll take it that you like me too?"she questioned, "Was it not obvious?" Robin replied blushing and looking down at her grinning. Nancy smiled and brought her face up so she could kiss Robin again, she broke the kiss and looked into her eyes "can we-um be..." Nancy started before Robin beat her to it "girlfriends?"Nancy smiled.
A pure smile. "Yes"

They lay there for a few minutes gathering their thoughts before Nancy spoke up, "I thought you had work?" Robin's care-free gaze quickly turned to worry as she sat up "oh fuck I left Steve". Nancy giggled "I can give u a lift if you would like" she said still smiling, "that would be great" Robin smiled back quickly standing up and heading toward the door.

The two got into the car and started driving, it wasn't long before Robin started to ramble "this is so unreal to me." "Huh? What do you mean?" Nancy replied confused, "Im dating Nancy wheeler. The Nancy wheeler." Robin was met with a laugh from Nancy as she spoke up "what is that supposed to mean?" Nancy giggled, Robin studied her "I mean, you are perfect, so perfect and popular but I'm just me" Robin admitted watching the surroundings through the window.
Nancy laughed again "Robin, you are one of the funniest, but oblivious people I know." This time it was robins turn to look confused, Nancy pulled into the car park and turned the engine off turning to face her and placing her hands on Robin's cheeks causing Robin to flush red, " your pretty and funny and clever and I'm so glad that we're dating" she stated ending it with a light kiss on her forehead.

Nancy opened the door and hopped out of the car while Robin was still sat in the car a flustered mess. "You coming rob?" Nancy remarked opening the door for Robin, "y-yeah" Robin replied cheeks still burning.

Robin was the first to enter the store grinning from ear to ear as nancy trailed along behind her. Steve looked up at the girls who were hand in hand, "so Buckley how'd it go?" Steve remarked grinning, Robin rolled her eyes and looked around the store, lucky for her there was no one to be seen "we're dating" she replied still grinning while Nancy was looking flushed. "About time" Steve sneered, he grabbed the family video vest that Robin had shed earlier and threw it at her "now you have work", Robin pouted at batted her eyelashes, when that didn't work she groaned "UGHHH" and reluctantly put on the vest and got to work.

Well Robin didn't actually end up getting that much work done, when she wasn't flirting with her girlfriend she was making out with her in the back when she was supposed to be 'checking for a movie'.

After the third time Robin had gone to 'check in the back' and came back with lipstick smeared over her face steve rolled his eyes and with a grin plastered on his face "oh my god get over yourselves already" to which Robin pulled a face in reply. 

Laying in bed that night both Robin and Nancy's heads were filled with thoughts. Most of then containing something about the other and both of them found themselves blushing and hiding their red faces in their own pillows.

My girlfriend.
