Forbidden Love

Chapter 2

I was called "Antique" by Con and other slaves of the house. I often spoke with a slave woman who was called "Thine." Thine was a thin and clumsy slave. She was but fifteen, but made good work in the house. 

At this time of day, noon, we must prepare our master's meals, Robert, Lydia, and William. "What meal should be prepared?" Thine asked me. "Look in the pantry for any food that may be prepared," I directed.

Thine and I walked to the pantry which was on the left wing of the house. I went and opened the pantry door which revealed  a number of foods. On the left side were barrels of beef and chicken while the right side were full of vegetables. 

Thine and another female servant grabbed a pound of beef and an assortment of vegetables. I then directed the female servant to make a salad. She responded with a "yes." Thine and I took the beef outside to roast it over a fire.

After the beef was made and the salad prepared, Thine and I set the food on the dining room table. We then prepared tea and set that on the table as well. It was at this time that Lydia Maine, my master's wife, came into the room and examined the food that we had prepared. She made no comment and exited the room without a word.

A few minutes later my master's family came into the dining room and began to eat the food we had prepared. I then directed Thine to leave the room, she obeyed.

After exiting the room Thine began to clean the kitchen where we had prepared the meal. "Antique," Thine called to me. I walked to her. "Yes Thine?" Thine looked at me pleadingly. "Why do you look at me this way?" Thine then lifted up her hands to me. In her hands were two pieces of the roasted beef, both being only one bit. I smiled at her. "Take them and eat them silently, lest you show the other slaves what you consume," I whispered two her. "Antique, have one of them," she whispered back. I smiled at her. I was filled with love for her. We both then ate the two morsels together.
