The assignment

"You'll need a partner for this assignment!"

The teacher announced , there were sounds of excitement and multiple students turned to their friends with smiles.

"WHICH I have already done the task of choosing for you based on who I thought you'd each do well with creatively"

the teacher added. Groans and swears filled the air as students deflated in their seats.

Amani was probably the only one who was relieved by this , she didn't have any friends in this class and would have dreaded choosing a partner on her own.

"Sarah Miller and Thomas Hornsby"

The teacher began to announce partner names

"Elijah ward and tyler partini"

"Alice Jones and Michael o'hare"

"Reginald Kray and amani Coleman"

Amani immediately got nervous, of course she got paired with a boy and OF COURSE that boy was attractive. She dared to let her eyes stray in his direction where she found him already looking at her with a smile. She smiled back and he waved at her nicely. Ok ok at least he's not a douche bag.

She'd never spoken to Reggie before let alone worked alongside him on a photography project before and a presentation at that. Their photography teacher was extremely outlandish and always assigned ridiculous projects to them. This weeks was history and photography: each pair of students must take a moment in history and recreate it on photograph.

"Find your partners and use the rest of class to discuss your project focal point and topic"

the teacher said with a kind smile. Amani could have thrown up as she saw Reggie stand from his seat and make his way to her.

Just fucking cool it amani. He's coming over so just smile SMILE DAMN IT!

She cursed herself and allowed a soft smile to spread across her face as Reggie took the seat next to her

"Hello amani"

He spoke, setting his notebook down on the table.

"Hi Reggie"

She responded trying to hold herself together. She was suddenly painfully aware that she'd never been this close to Reggie Kray before either. He was imposing and she could feel him surround her, he's attractive and so far very kind.

"I'm excited to work with you, I've seen some of your projects in class before you have such an interesting mind"

He complimented. Amani didn't even know what to say at this point.

"I'm actually hoping you'll have a killer idea for this project I'm horrible at picking topics , only took this class because I thought it would be easy ... my mistake"

He added with a laugh

"Yeah the class would be much easier if our teacher wasn't a looney tune"

Amani replied opening her notebook.

"I wonder what made her pair us together"

She added remembering that the teacher chose partners based on who she thought the other would do well creatively with

"Yeah no idea , but I'm your problem now so might as well accept it"

Reggie chimed with a smile. Amani laughed and shook her head slightly

"Ya know I bet you're a lot better at this than you think , I've seen the photos you take too and they're all quite beautiful"

She responded softly, Reggie looked at her like she was glowing and smiled

"So, this has to be history related..... is there a certain point in history that you enjoy?"

Amani asked readying her pencil. Reggie thought for a moment before saying

"Always liked Ancient times"

"Really? Hm well that could actually be pretty interesting"

Amani said, tapping her pencil on her desk in thought.

"Are you Roman?"

Reggie questioned looking at her

"I wish"

She answered with a scoff

"You have very pretty skin , not like any one else around here "

Reggie said looking at her burnt sugar colored skin.

"Oh thank you, that's very sweet of you"

Amani replied blushing And moving a piece of hair behind her ear before clearing her throat

Is it hot in here?

Reggie continued to look at her she could see him in her peripheral vision.

"We could do something like ..... bridal ceremonies on Ancient Rome"

Reggie suggested. Amani thought for a second , she loved romanticism and a bridal ceremony was romantic and so was rome and the idea itself could translate beautifully in the form a photograph

"Wow I really like that idea Reggie! See you're way better at this than you give yourself credit for"

Amani smiled.

"Ok class! Gather your things , you'll have to continue your collaborations with your partners over the weekend because I expect your photos done and ready to be presented on Monday."

The teacher chimed

Jesus due on Monday? Oh great so she just got screwed out of her weekend. Stupid fucking class. She gives them 2 days and expects a masterpiece on Monday.

What an assbag who the fuck wants to spend all weekend working on a fucking project

Amani felt Reggie move next to her

"Here's my number"

Reggie said after writing it down on a slip of paper

"Call me later and we can get together tonight and maybe even get it done and over with now that we know what we're doing"

He added

Amani put his number in her pocket

"Ok yeah that's sounds good , I'll pass on spending all my free time on this one project"

She replied with a roll of her eyes , Reggie laughed before saying

"I think we'll have fun, me and you"
