"It's the bottom of the ninth inning. Bases are loaded. It all comes down to this final pitch from Ferb "The Curve" Fletcher." Phineas announced as he held up control gun with a glove on the end.
Ferb pulled out his own gun and fired the baseball, using the joystick on the gun to control the ball and guide it right into Phineas' glove.
"And the crowd goes wild!"
Piper mimicked the sound of a crowd cheering for them.
Phineas grinned. "Yah, it looked way outside, but then it was right in the zone. There's the lesson, baseball fans: never judge a book by its cover."
~~~
"Boring. Dull. Stupid. Lame. Heavy-handed and derivative." Candace named off the books she was looking at.
"Oh, thank you for those insightful reviews of books you haven't read." Linda sassed.
"Mom. That's why books have covers. To judge them. I mean, why did you chose these books from the library?"
"They looked interesting."
"So...?"
Linda just sighed. "Point taken. Okay, honey, I'm off to help dad at the antique store." She walked over to the door but saw a package with Candace's name on it. "Oh, hey, here's a package for you."
"My Bango-Ru!" Candace exclaimed and took the box."
"You're what?"
"My Bango-Ru! They're these adorable Japanese characters that are so in right now, like in a kitschy way." Candace explained. "The guitarist for the Betty's has one painted on her guitar. Stacy and I designed out own dolls online."
"Well, assuming none of that is teenage code for something I should be worried about as a parent, I'm off."
"Bye, mom!" Candace swiped all the books off the table and put her box down before immediately calling her friend.
"Bango-Ru!" Stacy cheered on the other side of the phone.
"Bango-Ru!"
"I just got my little bunny-bear! It's a cross between a bunny and a bear, you get it? It's the most precious thing!"
"I just got mine too! He's a cross between a cow and a frog. I'm calling him Señor Frowg. He's gonna be the cutest thing." Candace opened the box and held her new doll up in horror.
"Candace?" Stacy called out when her friend went quiet. "What's going on?"
"I just realized why cows and frogs don't date."
"Well, we'll still have fun at the Bango-Ru convention today!"
"Yah, I guess."
~~~
"Okay, squad, let's see what this bad boy can do!" Phineas pointed the gun straight up and fired the ball up into the sky until they couldn't see it anymore.
"Cool!" Piper exclaimed.
They all stood in wait for it to come back down until, eventually they saw a dot.
Phineas pointed at it. "Oh, here it comes."
The dot grew bigger and bigger as it got closer and they quickly realized that wasn't the ball.
"Um, I know what we're gonna today: run for our lives!" Phineas yelled and the kids sprinted out for the way and hid behind the tree as a small ship crashed into the yard.
"Woah." Piper breathed as they peaked out to look at the ship. "I think we may have stopped and/or started an alien invasion."
The top of the ship opened but the it was smoking so bad that they couldn't see what was inside.
