Steve grumbled as he met up with Bucky and Sam in the hallway.
"Did you finally kiss her?" Bucky asked hopefully, with a mischievous smirk on his face.
"You interrupted you jerk" Steve growled at him, giving him a playful shove in the arm. Bucky pretended he shoved him harder than he did, and fell into the wall dramatically. They saw Loki coming out of his suite, and heading in the direction of your room.
"You headed for some tea?" Sam asked him curiously.
"Yes, I've barely seen Y/N this week. I'd like to see how her leg is doing" Loki nodded, pausing for a moment. "Tell me, have you asked her on a date yet, Steven?" he looked at Steve who blushed a scarlet red, and so much so that even his ears were inflamed.
"No" Steve kept his answer short and sweet.
"That's unfortunate. I'll have to see how her Tinder search is going" Loki started walking again.
"I plan on it" Steve called to his back.
"You really should Captain," Loki called over his shoulder and stopped at your door, knocking on it momentarily before the door opened and he walked in and left the door open a crack behind him.
"I really thought when you pulled that move of jumping out of a hovering jet to make sure to meet her with her dog, she would kiss you instead" Sam whispered as they started down the stairs.
"You should see the new dog and cat," Steve grinned happily. "She's adopting both" he added with glee.
"Dog and a cat?" Bucky echoed.
"Yeah, Roxy and Tom. They are beautiful. You should have seen how happy she was sitting down on the floor with the pair of them. Tom was wrapped up around her neck when I came into the room, and Roxy was up on her lap. They looked like they really liked her" Steve admitted, feeling excited for you. "I think I might go and get her some dog and cat toys tomorrow after work"
"She doesn't even know if she was approved for the adoption yet, does she?" Sam asked in surprise.
"She's the best choice for them," Steve shrugged. "I put everyone's name down, except Rhody's, since he's rarely around"
"I'm sure she will love the gift pal, maybe get her some flowers while you're at it. Dames love flowers" Bucky opened the front door and the three of them walked outside. The evening air was a bit brisk, but at least it wasn't the extreme heat that they had been experiencing the last few weeks. Fall weather was coming in quickly, but the tree's hadn't started changing colors yet, and the outdoor pool was still used quite a bit for relaxation.
"I don't even know if she has a vase for flowers" Steve seemed to think about it for a moment.
"They sell flowers in vases," Sam reminded him quickly. "I'm sure she would love it"
The three of them started making their way to the pathway that led around the entire compound and walked side by side with Steve in the middle.
"How is her leg?" Bucky asked as they started to head towards the back of the compound.
"Healing still, I don't think she's been taking the pain medication that she's supposed to be" Steve admitted. He had been watching you closely over the last few days, and he noticed you seemed to shy away from taking them unless you had to. He wondered silently about it, but had decided not to push the issue and ask you about it. Steve looked out at the forested area, and saw the setting sun was starting to cascade its reds and golds across the trees and onto the lawn. He knew you loved this time of day, and stopped at the corner of the building, just out of your viewpoint and looked up. You were on your balcony sipping on a cup of tea and watching for them to come around the corner. Steve smiled to himself, thinking that he had already wasted enough time. He slowly came to the realization that you had been watching him, just as much as he had been watching you. It was about time that he did something about it. He wondered if your little habits that he had been following, had been because you had been following him too. He licked his lips and continued to watch you. Sam and Bucky were watching him curiously, but they could see where he was watching and both chuckled slightly.
"Make a damn move already" Sam huffed, looking almost exasperated at the situation.
"I'm making my move this weekend" Steve grinned and started walking again. Once he knew he was visible to you,, he looked up again and you quickly pretended you weren't watching for him, but he waved anyway. You gave a small wave, while Loki gave a regal nod and the three of them continued their walk.
