Chapter 13: a real fight

On the other side of Beacon

Summer Rose sliced a gargoyle away from a student and told them to go to Ozpin so he is safe. "Hurry, everyone get inside and to Ozpin and the other teachers!", Summer yelled pushing a student back away from the monsters. She fought of gargoyles to slow them from getting inside and when all students were gone she was about to run away till a voice of someone stopped her.

"Summer Rose, It's grand to meet you. Circumstances and a welcome weren't part of the package unfortunately", A dark voice spoke as the monsters backed off. Summer turned looking to the Demon Alchemist, Forneus.

Summer gripped her scythe even harder as she prepared to attack. "Hehahaheha", Forneus chuckled as he stepped forward with his hands behind his back. Summer used her speed semblance and swung at Forneus but was stopped prematurely. Forneus had a hand on her neck and 1 on her weapon. "Tststst, not a good host are you", Forneus spoke as Summer was losing oxygen. Summer slammed her fist on Forneus's mask and shoulders as she tried to get out. Forneus tore the scythe out of Summer's hand and looked to it saying, "quite disgusting. A scythe, sword, and gun hybrid... you hunters and huntresses don't understand what power is." Forneus pushed the scythe into Summer's stomach making her scream. Forneus then threw her to the side, impaled but alive. "I have no use to talk to you any longer", Forneus said as he walked inside "goodbye Summer but you aren't the Rose of that man's prophecy, that would be the other hehehaha".

"N-...no... stop", Summer said as she slightly dragged herself to Forneus but couldn't do anything. Forneus disappeared in the school as screams filled the outside.

At Qrow and the 2 teams

Qrow jumped up stabbing down on a gargoyle then used it as a stepping stone to jump up to find the cantor. In the air he saw a few gargoyles coming out of the woods and mentally took note on how to get there the quickest. After he landed he looked back to the 2 teams then said, "Alright, stay behind me and we will all survive this fight. And hey this just might get you up a grade or 2".

Qrow started running as the teams followed with Jaune saying, "Wait, is this even safe?!" "Hehe, no", Qrow said as he sliced a gargoyle and running into a clearing to see a old man with robes and a crown. The old man looked to the teams and Qrow. "Oh", Jaune said as he panted a bit "he doesn't seem to s- Ahhhh". Everyone looked back as Jaune was flung into the woods by a huge dark orb.

"Ghrrrr, don't dare think me weak for my family name is Silvergraft and I am a cantor of Forneus", the cantor Mathias snarled "and Beacon will fall by my hands". Qrow stepped up then said, "wow, Forneus knows how to pick the ugliest old corpses. Be careful, he is dusty but a knife is still a knife".

Qrow dashed forward and Silvergraft did incantations sending waves of dark slices to Qrow. Qrow dodged them and sung up at the cantor. The cantor countered by grabbing Qrow's hair and sending Qrow flying with a Flux. "Uncle Qrow!" Ruby yelled as she used her speed to sprint to the Qrow. Qrow sat up spitting out blood. "Ruby, this guy can't be done by 1 person. We need to coordinate a plan and end him", Qrow said standing up "I'll give all of you the time you need".

Qrow jumped forward at Silvergraft yelling out and swinging at the cantor. Qrow and Silvergraft swung blade and magic at eachother for minutes before the cantor was getting the upper hand. Silvergraft was pushing Qrow back while snickering and smiling. "I had heard about you Qrow", Silvergraft said as he pulled a Curved dagger from his robes and rose it above his head "unlucky, ever since you were a child. Guess it is very unlucky that thou will die by mine hands, so remember my name when you drop into hell". Silvergraft pushed the blade down but was slammed away by Pyrrah. The cantor rolled back and got up with an angered look only to defend himself again as a hammer weilding teen was launched at him by some white magic.

Silvergraft rolled away and blocked a fist by the Yang then his arm was wrapped by black ribbons and pulled with Ren shooting Silvergraft. "Ahhgggg!" the cantor yelled as he was punched by Yang. The cantor blasted dark spikes launching everyone away and hurting them. The cantor regained his footing then said, "Enough! I am a cantor, and I will not be killed by some teens and a drunk bird!"

Silvergraft then lifted an orb above his head as 6 deathgoyles apeared and he seems to have grown weaker. The cantor laughed then said, "now suffer as these monsters cut you apart!"

The battle began again as the deathgoyles being more powerful were getting slices in with their bardiches. "Ehg, not on my watch dusty corpse maker", Qrow said as he stabbed into the back of Silvergraft. Silvergraft yelled in pain as he slowly turned around with anger in his eyes.

Silvergraft then wrapped his hands around qrow and lifted him off the ground saying, "I won't fail Forneus and let me show you but a fraction of his strength!". Qrow was being strangled to death as he kicked at Silvergraft. Qrow kept kicking at Silvergraft till the cantor stumbles as a sword pierced him. "W-wha", Silvergraft questioned as the blade swiped out tearing away his old flesh and killing the cantor.

Qrow was dropped as the cantor fell sideways showing his killer as a shocked Jaune. "Hehe *cough cough*, not bad kid", Qrow said as he looked at all the gargoyles turning to dust. "I-I just k-killed a man", Jaune said dropping his sword in shock.

Qrow put a hand on Jaune's shoulder than said, "you did the right thing *cough*, he was a monster, he just looked like an old man. Now, we should get back to Beacon and celebrate this victory". Qrow left Jaune to check on his nieces as the rest of team JNPR came over.

"Jaune are you ok?!" Pyrrah hald Jaune's face in worry. "Y-yeah... it was... just... so different from killing a grimm or monster... like I could feel his soul leave him... i-I think I need to puke", Jaune said as after he held his mouth and shambles away from his team in disgust of what he did.

An explosion rings as the teams look to Beacon as smoke was coming from it.

"Shit", Qrow said frustrated, "celebration later, the school is still under attack!"
