Emma's POV

-3 days later-

I paced around the gaming room. My pacing was interrupted by a knock on the door. My head shot in that direction and I saw Dan leaned against the door frame, holding two mugs.

"Can I come in?" He asked. I nodded.

"Want some hot chocolate?" He asked. I nodded again. We sat down on the couch and handed me the cup full of the warm chocolate drink. I took a sip and looked down at me feet.

"Why?" I asked myself "Why did I do it? I could have killed her!" I yelled. Dan put his mug on the desk and then took mine and did the same.

"I need at ask you something. It's very important and you have to answer." He said. I took a deep breath and nodded. (There's a lot of nodding in this chapter)

"Why didn't you talk to me for 5 months?" He asked. He looked at me in the eyes.

"Because ... I don't really know." I stared back into his chocolate brown eyes.

"I-I just didn't want to start have fe-" I was interrupted my my phone. It started to ring. I quickly got up and answered.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hello Emma. It's Doctor James I have news regarding your friend. I would like you to come down to the hospital as soon as possible." The doctor spoke. I nodded.

"O-okay. I'll be there in a couple minutes." With that I hung up.

"Who was it?" Dan asked.

"The doctor. He wants us to go to the hospital."

-TS-

We rushed to the desk and the doctor was already there waiting. Dan stood behind me and Nat stood next to me. The doctor took a deep breath.

"How is she doc?" I asked.

"Your friend ... is dead." He said with a sigh. 50% of me was happy the other part was falling apart. I had caused this. I had killed her.

"Did the accident kill her?" Dan asked. The doctor shook his head.

"No, the car accident did not kill her. She had a heart condition. She would have only lived a couple more years but the accident just made it worse." A tear ran down my cheek, then came a waterfall.

"C-can I see her?" I asked. The doctor nodded.

"They should be cleaning up her room now, but you may." I made my way to her room. I got there just in time to see a blanket being pulled over her head and the heart monitor being turned off. I started at her lifeless body and felt someone next to me. Nat gave me a hug and I cried over her shoulder.

We went back to Dan and Phil's flat.

"Nat ... I think you should go home. I'll stay here for a while. I just need to .... talk to Dan." I told her once we were outside Dan and Phil's flat. She hesitated but went home. Dan opened the door to the flat and we stepped in. I made my way to the gaming room. I sat down on the couch and lowered my head.

"A-are you ok?" Dan asked.

"I fucking killed someone! Do you think I'm ok?!" I yelled. Dan stepped back. I sighed.

"I'm ... I'm sorry." I said. "I shouldn't have snapped."

"It's ok. It's not your fault." Dan took a seat next to me. "You didn't kill her. You heard the doctor. She had a heart condition." He tried to comfort. I shook my head and looked him in the eyes.

"Even if that's not my fault. We lied to the authorities." I said.

"Would you rather go to jail?!"

"We told them she was in a car accident! I'm the true accident!"

"Your no accident. Trust me it's not your fault."

"This is what I did." I said amazed.

"What do you mean?" Dan asked confused.

"I-I remember I was talking to phil and I told him about my past. I did something to deserve the pain I went through. This is what I did." I explained.

"Emma! This isn't your fault. Listen to me. You. Didn't. Kill. Her. It's. Not. Your. Fault." Dan said.

"Say whatever you want. You won't change my mind."
