The harsh noise of the bullet being released echoed throughout the small area, as the waves and everything surrounding us went dead silent. Fear had caused my body to completely freeze, and my eyes shot towards Giovanni. His face was cold and harsh, no expression like he had done this over and over again, instead he looked directly through me.
I waited for the pain, for the bullet to impale into my heart killing both me and his unborn child, how could he be so heartless, so cruel. I wasn't ready to die, I had my whole life ahead of me, I was trying to prove a point to him, and that is what has led me to this death.
And that's when I felt the pain of the bullet hitting my skin, however rather than impaling me through the chest like I thought he was aiming for, the bullet nipped the bare skin of my arm before hitting the ground far away.
This man did not murder me, instead he just shot me in the arm to prove a point that he was no afraid to shoot me dead at any moment. I looked at him, his expression was still cold and cruel, however he had a smirk drawn across his face as he placed the gun back into his pocket and walked away leaving me astounded on the beach.
Adrenaline was coursing through my veins, and I threw myself on the soft sand allowing myself to take a deep breath of oxygen. Blood was dripping down my arm, and you could see where the bullet just nicked it, it didn't look as though it needed stitches, but I still planned on getting it looked at in case a piece of the bullet broke off into the wound.
I was sat on the beach for another hour after he walked away, I felt as though I couldn't move, I was in pure shock. He never came down once to check that I was alright, to offer a hand up, I suppose he wished that he had shot me.
I want to go home, to be with my friends and to be able to be as far away from him as humanly possible, not here where I am trapped in a house with him. I pushed myself up of the sand and walked back to the house, as soon as the door hit me the smell of smoke hit me.
Sat at the kitchen table, drinking neat whiskey straight from the bottle and smoking a cigarette was the devil himself. His eyes didn't even flicker once to me as I walked to the sink to wash the blood from my arm, instead he kept glugging back the alcohol. I really didn't want to have to speak to him however I was desperate to get on the plane and go home, but I decided to ignore him and bite my tongue.
For most of the evening I spent it in bed daydreaming, wondering how fucking different my life would be if I had not met him that one unfortunate night. Perhaps I would have gotten a promotion, or me and Mia would be on holiday together having the best time of our lives. I wonder how she is doing...
I was snapped out of my thoughts to the sound of tires coming towards the house, Giovanni had moved from the seat in the kitchen to answer the door to whoever had arrived. I didn't bother moving. They spoke Italian although I could hear nothing due to the fact that they had moved back into the kitchen. I decided to go back to watching the movie, that was until the mystery man knocked on my bedroom door.
"V, Mr Giovanni has asked that you accompany him back home." The man said as I practically jump out of the bed, I don't care If I have to be stuck in a car or a plane with him, as long as I get to touch the soft ground of England I do not care.
Giovanni was of course in the front seat next to the driver, the man who had knocked on my door was sat in the back next to me, all of the men including Giovanni where smoking causing me to have to roll down my window. It annoyed me slightly, I was sporting an almost 6-month baby bump and it's not hard to figure out that smoke is bad for an unborn baby, even if it is second hand smoke.
During the entire drive to the airport the three men spoke between themselves, Giovanni did not look at me once, he did not care like me he just wanted to get home, so we didn't have to see each other again. Before long we arrived at the airport and boarded the plane, Giovanni sat near the bar, ordering himself a drink, whilst I headed straight into the backroom that had a small bed for me to sleep on. Of course, the man from earlier sat outside the bedroom door, I assumed that he was my new bodyguard, which is kind of ironic considering Giovanni was the one trying to kill me.
The plane started and we took off in the night sky heading back home, after all of the events that had gone on throughout the past few days, I felt exhausted, and it wasn't long until I had fallen back asleep.
Giovanni's POV
I was at least 5 drinks past being sober, and the smell of smoke was stuck to me. How could I have been so stupid.... How could I have fucked the biggest bitch ever and gotten her pregnant not to mention it's not even an heir to the mafia throne. Instead, it is another girl.
I wish that I was able to just to send her back to her home with Mia, but if my father knew that I was not following his instructions then he would take the title from me. I could live with her for one year, I will just have to avoid her like the plague.
I had to request Dennis to come directly to be her bodyguard for a while, especially because she had the tendency to wonder of and find trouble. Also, because I need her alive for at least another year. I would be surprised if she ever uttered another word to me, but I don't care I would rather her be quiet.
V 's POV
I had awoken roughly half an hour before we arrived back on the ground, the feeling of sick had arisen in my stomach, and I sprinted through the isle of the private plane to the toilet. It was the first time since the argument that I had felt Giovanni look at me. I threw up countless times until there was nothing left in my stomach, the smell of sick had stunk out the entire plane.
The airhostess was going to see if I was alright, however Giovanni had stopped her, when our eyes caught one another, he simply raised his eyebrows and gave me a look of disgust before turning back to his drink.
I hate this man.
Finally, we arrived back to Giovanni's house, because of the time difference and the fact that I had spent most of the time on the plane asleep, I wasn't tired. I decided that the picture the lady had given me needed to be hung above the nursery cot. Of course, I knew that I was not allowed up there, but Giovanni had gone to bed, and even if he did catch me going up there, I doubt he would care if I fell since he shot me.
The picture looking perfect above the wall of the nursery and made it feel more complete. I decided to read to my little bump, so that she could get used to the sound of my voice. The book was about a family of ducks and had been given to my mum when she had me and growing up, I would get my mum to read it to me again and again.
As soon as I started reading the book I felt slight movement in my stomach, not a large amount but enough to cause me to smile. I cannot wait until she is here and this hell can be over.
