Silent tears slid down Emily's face as her eyes remained entranced by the screen. A young woman is chasing the love of her life as he quickly leaves out the door.

"What is he doing? SHE LOVES YOU, DANG IT. Why, why, why?" Emily yells at the screen.

Emily sits up slightly from her former position, slumped back on the left side of the couch, facing the television. Sat comfortably in the spot right next to the emotional girl was Harry, her boyfriend of nearly a year. They had been watching some very old, dramatic romance movie for the past hour and things were getting intense as the male protagonist stormed out of the home he and his girlfriend shared after he had dumped her for another girl (or something like that). It was one of those terribly tragic movies with no happy ending that results in the girl having to move on alone, forever haunted by what might have been. Blah, blah, blah.

Something about the female protagonist crying and screaming for her love to come back struck a nerve somewhere in Emily's heart and she couldn't help but let a few tears escape from her eyes.

Meanwhile, Harry had lost interest in the film a long while ago and had gained more interest in a distracted Emily. With an amused smile on his face he watched her intently as she reacted to different things happening in the film; the pout at the sad parts, the giggle at the jokes, the shocked look at the plot twist, and, now, the tears at the tragic end. He had paid attention to a lot of the movie, but Emily's expressive face was quite interesting.

As the character on the screen made some type of deep, depressing statement, Emily threw her hand over her mouth as the few tears continued. Harry's expression slowly changed away from its amused state and his face softened. Wordlessly, he scooted closer to her petite frame and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her into his warm embrace, her back pressed against his chest. Her eyes flicked up to meet Harry's clear, pale green ones and Harry smiled comfortingly.

"Hey, hey, hey, it's alright," Harry whispered, lovingly kissing the top of her head. Emily wasn't sobbing or even crying by any means, but Harry didn't want to see any sad tears on her face. "Things will work out between 'em, don't worry!"

Emily lightly giggled at his cheerful, optimistic tone. "That's a nice way to think, Harry, really, but I'm pretty sure that's not how these type of movies end..."

Harry cut Emily off as he quickly got up from the couch, carefully releasing Emily from his embrace.

"What are you doing?"

Harry turned off the television and ran into the dining room that was directly off the living room they were sat in.

Harry shouted out from behind the wall, "EM, WE ARE CREATING OUR OWN ENDING TO THE MOVIE. YOU PLAY THE GIRL, YEAH? I'LL BE THE JERKY GUY WHO LEFT YOU CRYING... AND ACTION!"

Emily furrowed her eyebrows, but decided to play along. "What do I do?!"

"JUST CRY LIKE IN THE MOVIE, OKAY? TRUST ME AND ACTION."

Emily let out her best fake cry and in moments Harry rushed back through the door.

"My love! I have returned for you!" Harry mimicked the actor's American accent.

"But what about Jolene?"

"Never mind her! For my love for her was never true! I was so foolish to ever let anyone come between us!"

Emily laughed at her and Harry's terrible acting as they improvised a happy reuniting of the couple.

"Never leave me again!" Emily exclaimed, imitating the actress' gestures as she flung herself into Harry's open arms.

He chuckled as he swore, "Never again!"

He pulled Emily's smiling face closer to his, both his hands on her cheeks as he laughed, "And... cut!"

He placed a lazy kiss on Emily's lips and smiled, proud of their alternative ending to the sappy film.

The two spent the rest of the night watching comedies and laughing hysterically.
