(Finally got around to posting this here lol)
(Uh- Devil and Dice just started dating in this fanfic)

If there was one thing Queen Dice enjoyed more than scamming people out of their money, it was late night reading. She enjoyed the tranquil sounds of her bedroom, especially compared to the hustle and bustle of the Casino during the day. Currently, she was in the middle of a book about an angel and a demon. Two very different worlds, yet they still somehow made each other's worlds. The demon, Crowley, particularly reminded her of a certain demon she knew and it made her chuckle how much alike they were.

Speak of the Devil and she shall arrive; Lucifer wandered in, practically tossing herself on the bed. The mattress's springs and the bed below it screamed a loud creak from the sudden weight atop it. Though it was strange since the Devil weighed practically nothing. Queen Dice had picked her up countless times, it was like picking up a large cat with the weight of a house cat. She wasn't a mortal being after all.

Dice didn't know if the Devil even had bones.

She turned a page in her book, barely acknowledging Big D's presence. The Devil sighed rather loudly, her voice muffled substantially from falling face first into the pillows. Dice simply just kept reading. Another long, drawn out sigh, louder this time- though still muffled. Queen Dice finally tore her eyes away from her book, looking over to her girlfriend who's face was still buried in the pillows. Yet another sigh came from the demon, much longer and even more louder.

Queen shook her head, placing a book mark in her book and placing it on the night stand by her side of the bed. She crossed her arms, though still didn't say anything. The Devil sighed again- sounding more like a groan than a sigh.

"Yes, Boss?" Queen Dice cut the demon off from letting out another sigh.

"I'm tired." Dice thought the Devil had said that, but wasn't sure from how muffled out it was.

"How 'bout you look up at me when I talk to ya?" Queen Dice stroked the other's long, black, curly- and slightly matted- hair. Only twice, them pulled her hand back. There was a pause, Queen was half convinced that the Devil had fallen to sleep.

Though she also knew she shouldn't have been so naive.

"Do that again." The Devil demanded, sounding rather pathetic with the pillow muffling her voice.

"Do... What again?"

"What you just did. With my hair."

"You mean this?"

Dice stroked her hair again, the Devil not answering. Which told the Devil that this is what she meant. The Devil's breathing evened out, dragging her to sleep. The calm breathing and the peaceful atmosphere willed Queen Dice to sleep as well. Though her eyelids grew heavy and she wanted to get some sleep, she knew the Devil very well from the few months of dating her. If she stopped what she was doing, Old Scratch would only nag her until she continued.

An odd sound caught Dice's slow attention. She blinked, noticing the sound coming from none other than her Boss. A small, low, reoccurring sound. Almost like a car engine.
She lifted her hand, the sound stopping soon after. She blinked once more, half convinced it was just a figment of her imagination. The Devil tossed over, her face now visible to Queen Dice.

"Why'd you stop?"

"Boss, were you purrin'?"

"What?" The Devil furrowed her eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"I heard purrin', was that you?"

"... No."

"You hesitated."
