“Nate!” Isa exclaims excitedly running towards me with her arms spread out.

“Hey Isa.” I return the greeting just as she begins squeezing the life out of me. “I’m guessing you slept well last night.”

“I slept beautifully.” She says still holding me and looking up at me with yearning desire in her eyes to hold on to the feeling she is experiencing right now.

“That’s good but also kind of hurts, since it’s like I was giving you nightmares now you stopped dreaming about me, now you’re sleeping like an angel on a cloud. I’m really having mixed feelings about this now.”

“You funny Nate.” She states through her laughter. “And who said I didn’t dream of you last night?”

“What?”

“Ha! Nate I love your expressions, and reactions they are so funny, come.” She takes my hand and drags the still dumbfounded me to wherever she’s going.

“Nate! Isa! You back!” the group of physically active teenagers shout out excitedly as we walk over to them. It’s a nice gesture, an uncomfortable one but still nice, even though a huge part of me does not want to be here.

“Hey.” I greet them trying my best not sound awkward.

“Nate!” I’d know that exited squeal from anywhere. Caitlin ran from behind me and gave me a tight squeeze from behind, “I missed you.” She stated with her head rested on my back and her arms around my waste.

She sounds so genuine, a lot more genuine than everyone else here, and I like that, and also don’t like it. Though my body is heating up like crazy, and my cheeks are probably painted with red blotches I feel extremely comfortable. I think I might’ve missed her a bit.

“Nate since you here, does that mean you’re accepting my offer.”

“Offer? What offer you talking about Justin?”

“Oh he didn’t tell you yet Isa, I thought he would’ve.”

Oh now I see what this is all about. Not going to lie I didn’t see this coming.

“Tell me what.”

“Nate and I were making plans for him to join the football team.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, but I haven’t agreed to it yet or anything.”

“Come on Nate, look at you, you’re definitely not a shrimp, might need to hit the gym a bit more but then you golden. I see potential in you Nate, I’m sure Isabella sees it too.”

I turn to Isabella, and her expression was not surprising.

Her hands tied behind her back hung clenched in aggression. She kept a deceiving smile on her face biting her tongue behind it.

“I agree Nate.” She swivels facing me with a dangerous smile plastered to her face, “I see potential in you, a lot actually, you could be a great offensive guard, or center, even a great wide receiver, but not going to lie…” she turns to Justin elegantly and smiles at him menacingly,”…I think he’d even make a great quarterback.”

“There’s potential, definitely, but being quarterback, that’s a calling, one that takes skill, training and practice, that’s not for him.”
