Aokigahara Forest, also known as the Sea of Trees, aka "Suicide Forest", is a popular forest in Japan where people go to take their own lives.
In 2010 alone, over 200 people attempted the act and 54 were successful. This location has long been associated with death.
Their shoes are left as a sad reminder of the choices. An anti-suicide sign is located at the entrance as well.
