Weeks passed and oddly enough, nothing changed. But of course, just because they had discovered the plot didn't mean that it would immediately go into effect.

Delilah soon had something else on her mind than the Sorcerer's Stone. Exams were ten weeks away, so she drew up a study schedule to help her stay organized, which Draco had teased her relentlessly for.

The teachers were also thinking along the same lines and piled so much homework on them that the Easter holidays weren't nearly as much fun as the Christmas ones. Delilah kept studying, but she still played games with the rest of the Slytherin's and had fun.

But Delilah and her friends still spent most of their time in the library, making their way through all of their extra work.

"I'll never remember this," Pansy dramatically declared one evening, throwing down her quill and looking longingly out of the library window. It was the first really fine day they'd had in months. The sky was a clear, forget-me-not blue, and there was a feeling in the air of summer coming.

Delilah, who was trying to remember what dittany was, didn't look up until she heard Draco mutter, "What's that big oaf doing here? He's taking up the whole library!"

Delilah looked up. Hagrid was indeed taking up the whole isle that he was in. He looked very out of place, especially with his moleskin overcoat.

Delilah noticed that the section he was in was all about... dragons? Why would he care about dragons? Sure they were cool but they didn't need to know that, unless of course you had one but Hagrid wouldn't do that, would he? He had said that he had always wanted a dragon, but he lived in a wooden hut! It would be madness to keep one, but Hagrid had taken in a three-headed dog named Fluffy, so she couldn't be sure.

An hour later, Delilah walked over to Hagrid's hut. She was surprised to see Harry, Hermione, and Ronald already knocking. She hurried to catch up.

"Hey Harry, Hermione, Ronald, what are you guys doing here? Did you see the library section he was in too?" asked Delilah.

Hermione quickly nodded as Hagrid called "Who is it?" before he let them in, and then shut the door quickly behind them.

It was stiflingly hot inside. Even though it was such a warm day, there was a blazing fire in the grate. Hagrid made them tea and offered them stoat sandwiches, which they refused, knowing his cooking.

"So — yeh wanted to ask me somethin'?"

"Yes," said Harry. "We were wondering if you could tell us what's guarding the Sorcerer's Stone apart from Fluffy."

Hagrid frowned at him.

"O' course I can't," he said. "Number one, I don' know meself. Number two, yeh know too much already, so I wouldn't tell yeh if I could. That Stone's here fer a good reason. It was almost stolen outta Gringotts — I s'ppose ye've worked that out an' all? Beats me how yeh even know abou' Fluffy."

"Oh, come on, Hagrid, you might not want to tell us, but you do know, you know everything that goes on round here," said Hermione in a flattering voice. Hagrid's beard twitched and they could tell he was smiling.

Catching what she was doing, Delilah joined in.

"We only wondered who had done the guarding, really," Delilah said. "We wondered who Dumbeldore had trusted enough to help him, apart from you."

Hagrid's chest swelled at these last words. Harry and Ron beamed at the two girls.

"Well, I don' s'pose it could hurt ter tell yeh that... let's see... he borrowed Fluffy from me... then some o' the teachers did enchantments... Professor Sprout — Professor Flitwick — Professor McGonagall —" he ticked them off on his fingers, "Professor Quirrell — an' Dumbledore himself did somethin', o' course. Hang on, I've forgotten someone. Oh yeah, Professor Snape."
