Mollie (pov)
~ October 1984 ~
Nothing's better than the week of Halloween. Scary movies, trick or treating and candy. Although the scary movies aren't really my thing but Eddie's, to some extent, I've learned in just the short amount of time we've been friends. His favorite horror movie is Student Bodies and the Friday the 13th franchise.
I was on the phone with Eddie when Dustin started storming through the house looking for some loose change to go to the arcade.
"Molls! Do you have any change to spare? I swear I'll pay you back eventually," he asked desperately.
"Hold that thought Eddie. Dustin, I'm on the phone and yes. Just don't take too much, okay."
"Who's Eddie? Your boyfriend?"
"Dustin! Go and wait outside for me, I'll be out in a minute. Sorry, Eddie. My babysitting duty is calling off to the arcade with my brother and his friends."
"Can I meet you there, or no," Eddie said over the phone.
"Sorry, you can't. Unless you want to meet him..?"
"Actually, Molls. I would, but if you're not comfortable with it, I won't push."
"Thanks, Eds. I'll see you at school," I said, hanging up the phone and heading towards the door, grabbing my bike and heading out to the arcade with Dustin.
The arcade was almost packed for a school night. All the kids showed up perfectly fine, and saw Will being dropped off by Joyce.
I stayed near the kids, with a sharper eye on Will (per Jocye's wishes) and let them do their thing. Dustin was getting really revved up over Dragon Slayer, I guess he was losing by the way he screamed, "No! No! No! I hate this overpriced bullshit! Son of a bitch! Piece of shit!"
I started laughing because of Dustin and walking towards them, I knew he wanted more quarters so he could try again.
"You'er just not nimble enough. But, you'll get there one day. But, until then, princess Daphne is mine," said Lucas.
"Need more quarters, Dustin," I asked.
"No thanks, sis. It's whatever, I'm still tops on Centipede and Dig Dug."
"You sure about that," Keith said, coming up behind me and making me jump back into him.
"Keith, you can't just be super close to people like that. Someone's gonna kick you in the dick one day and it's probably gonna be me," I said walking away from the boys. Everyone was speechless.
I know Keith has a crush on me, it's very obvious. He's just never taken the hint that I find him creepy. I didn't listen to the rest of their conversation since they all ran to Dig Dug. But the next thing I heard came from Mike's loud mouth, "I'm not prostituting my sister! Besides, she's the one with a boyfriend. Why not take Mollie?"
That's where I drew a line with Mike, I walked up to the boys just in time to hear Dustin defend me like a good brother should.
"No, he's not getting a date. Know what? I don't want him spreading his nasty ass rash to my family or yours, Mike."
"Acne isn't a rash and it isn't contagious, you prepubescent wastoid," Keith said.
"Oh I'm a wastoid now? She's not getting a date with you," said Dustin.
"Really? Has the pig told you that herself," said Keith.
"No, I haven't because it's not his business. But the threat of kicking you in the dick should've been a clear sign, asshole." I said. "Wait, where's Will."
