let's just pretend it's still halloween cuz haha, we're very VERY late but better late than never ig T.T

"soonyoung, we cannot go trick or treating!" seungkwan huffed impatiently as he glared at the grown man in front of him. yes, the grown adult standing in front of him who so eagerly danced around in his batman costume like he was at a school halloween dance. honestly, if you told seungkwan that he'd be standing here on halloween night with a partner like soonyoung all dressed up in more glam than any drag queen he's ever seen, well he'd definitely believe you.
from the start soonyoung was definitely not like the other detectives, and that was seungkwan being generous about it.
soonyoung was the type of person to bring bobblehead figurines into the office and spend hours flicking their heads. once seungkwan had even seen the older detective pretending to act out the titanic with his figurines, the ones he claimed weren't toys. shortly after soonyoung curled up into a ball under his desk and refused to speak to anyone for three hours. The same thing happened recently when he reenacted the notebook with their new co-worker, seokmin except well this time they both stuffed themselves under seungkwan's desk instead and wouldn't stop weeping.
needless to say, that pretty much left seungkwan to deal with all the paperwork between the two. soonyoung was his partner detective whereas seokmin was a friend who had just graduated from the academy earlier in the year. sure he hated soonyoung's work antics, but he didn't want him to get fired. sometimes seungkwan even covered for seokmin, because of course the living carbon copy of soonyoung hated paperwork as well.
seungkwan would never admit it out loud, or in broad daylight, but he'd grown used to the two goofballs. plus, they always made up for it by paying anytime the three went out to karaoke bars after work. seungkwan always made sure to order the most expensive dishes on the menu every time and luckily soonyoung and seokmin were always too drunk to notice anyway. thank goodness for their blissful ignorance and emerging alcoholism right?
"why not? the case can't be that important, can it?" soonyoung straightened out the black cape fanning out from behind him onto the carpeted floor of the police station. it was really hard to look soonyoung in the eyes right now.
no seriously, seungkwan could barely see him through the black batman mask he was wearing right over his eyes.
"soons, you cannot be serious right now," seungkwan sighed, rolling his eyes with the slightest tone fo annoyance in his voice. Not even five minutes ago their boss had walked over and handed them a murder case, proclaiming that he trusted they could handle it before rushing off to his family to spend halloween with his young ones. long ago seungkwan had imagined himself having a large family, yet here he was now alone in a cold police station stuck with two foolish partners instead of with a family of his own.
"I think we should go!" seokmin popped out from under his desk now wearing a brightly colored robin outfit that fit almost too well on seokmin. similarly to soonyoung's costume, seokmin had a long golden cape that draped out from behind him but instead of a brooding mask he had a bright green mask that highlighted the gleam in his eyes.
when did they even have time to coordinate costumes? and seungkwan was just way too tired to even question how seokmin had gotten changed so gracefully under his desk in the maybe two minutes that seungkwan had his eyes off of him.
