“I still can’t believe she’s gone sometimes. It doesn’t feel… real.”
When he said nothing, listening patiently, I continued.
“Sometimes in a terrifying, ‘she’s gonna kill me,’ nightmare-y kind of way — but sometimes just in a weird ‘forgetting she’s dead for a minute’ way. I don’t know, I guess I just spent my whole life doing everything for her, and thinking I would stay loyal to her forever, and everything just happened so fast… like, I’m glad I know the truth now, but I also still kinda wish it wasn’t true.”
