Biography

Cory Doctorow (craphound.com) is a science fiction author, activist, journalist and blogger -- the co-editor of Boing Boing (boingboing.net) and the author of young adult novels like PIRATE CINEMA and LITTLE BROTHER and novels for adults like RAPTURE OF THE NERDS and MAKERS. He is the former European director of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and co-founded the UK Open Rights Group. Born in Toronto, Canada, he now lives in London.

Twilight of the commercial interludes

This world is full of fine-print, especially when it comes to electronic media like this book. Almost all of this fine-print is bullshit, a technical term from the legal trade that means, approximately, "Totally unenforceable, farcical wishlists dreamt up by jerk lawyers working for greedy robber-barons."   There is a notable exception. Below this paragraph is an exciting and dynamic list of booksellers who will get you a copy of this book in exchange for money. And below that is the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 license, a wonder of modern legal work, a block of legalese that actually gives you rightsinstead of taking them away. Pretty cool, huh?
