It has to be midnight. Where is he? His work shouldn't keep him out this late.
I go downstairs to grab water. Not even a minute later, a knock resonates through the house. I open the door and a police officer is standing there. I'm worried, but Gus smiles brightly at me.
"I made a wrong turn and I couldn't find my way back home."
I sigh, relieved.
"I escorted him back home. You are as handsome as your husband says. Sorry. Have a good night, sir!"
I drag my husband back into the house. As soon as we're up the stairs, I hug him.
"You had me worried."
"Sorry... I didn't mean to. Would cuddling make it better?"
"After a shower. Go. I love you," I call after him.
"I love you," he replied, muffled.
