Several thuds and a loud crash scared Reia out of her deep sleep. Quickly, she tried to blink away at the lack of energy, but the puffiness of her eyes weren't helping. Just as she was slowly getting out of the bed, the sound of distant talking caused her breath to hitch.

She locked the house didn't she? Her momentary lapse of memory caused her mind to race, but after a few seconds, she could clearly remember her clicking the lock in place before moving deeper into the house.

But it would mean that somebody either lock picked the house, or had gotten through the window. Just thinking about it made her groan a little.

Of all the times, it had to be when I was here.

Quietly walking over to her father's closet, Reia leaned down towards the side and pulled out a small locked box. Her hands moved automatically as she grabbed the key and opened the box to reveal a 9mm pistol layed side by side with its magazine loaded with ammunition.

'It's only for emergencies,' her dad would tell her, 'you never treat a gun like a toy.'

Though her dad and mom were mostly at home for the majority of Reia's childhood, her dad taught her how to use a gun at 10 years old. With a big house and them almost living in the middle of nowhere (minus the small town a few minutes away), it was just them. Most of everyone who lived in the rural areas owned a gun. It was just safety measures. New York was always a crazy place.

'Use this when you need to defend yourself or others.'

Now was a good time as any.

Sliding the magazine into the gun compartment, Reia cocked back the barrel before slowly moving out of the room. The sound of talking grew louder as she descended the steps. A set of foreign, unknown language was being spoken, and weirdly enough, it sounded very similar to Japanese.

Her hands shook as she tried to calm her nerves. She wasn't only dealing with just a few people. With the amount of talking, it sounded like a very large group.

If she strained herself, Reia could hear a slight panic in their fast-paced talking. Her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion. However, the moment she stepped onto the living room floor, her eyes widened as she saw multiple people staring at her in shock.

Suddenly, a figure dashed out of the open archway she was approaching, and with eyes wide, Reia rose her gun and squeezed the trigger. The weapon was pushed to the side. The shot fired. Before she could fire another bullet, the figure had already disarmed her and was already dragging one of her hands behind her back.

Reia twisted her body out of the way and kicked her leg behind their knee. They dropped forward. She jabbed a punch towards their face, but they quickly grabbed her hand and tried to redirect her. Although it's been a while since she last used her martial art skills, she could feel herself getting back into rhythm with the fight.

She tried to knock the person out. Unfortunately, they had the upper hand. Both in technique and strength.

Reia grunted as she roughly was pinned against the wall. She tried to wiggle out of their grasp but began wincing as the person applied pressure against her back, and a deep voice began talking in what she realized was Japanese.

"Who are you? Where the hell are we?"

"Wha-what?!" Reia stuttered out.

Maybe it was during their fight, but the remaining group of people she had heard talking had gone out of the room that they were in and began speaking as they looked at her.

"Who is that?"

"Tch, It's probably the villain who sent us here!"

"Villain? No way."
