and trophies
and dress shoes.
But now he says
"I love you"
and I wonder if I've become
just another number
another trophy
another heart beneath his dress shoe,
bleeding until all that's left
is his voice talking on the phone
or his handwriting on the checks
or his scent on the sheets.
