...

Sabre sat nervously on the bridge, trying hard not to fiddle with the bouquet in his lap. He had to keep telling himself to just do it and get it over with. Lucas had convinced him the confess his feelings to Rainbow on Valentine's Day. He struggled to keep himself together as he waited for Rainbow to meet him there. He had spent the night rehearsing to Lucas and thinking of how to tell his best friend what had been growing under his skin for so long. No one else was in the Rainbow Town that day, not even Lucas. He heard Rainbow's voice call from not too far away and prepared himself to tell him. Sabre felt butterflies as he flew over to him. He gingerly waved, going over the words he wanted to say in his head. Rainbow landed next to him.

"Sabre!" He said, giving him a quick hug from the side. Sabre awkwardly returned it.

"Hey, Rain" He said shallowly

Rainbow looked at the bundle of flowers in his lap. "Oo, those are pretty!"

"Uh, yeah..."

"Wait!" Rainbow leaned over "Isn't it one of those fun ho-lee-days you've told me about?"

"Oh, yeah," he said "It's-"

"No, let me guess!" Rainbow said. He concentrated hard to remember what Sabre told him "Val In Time Day?"

"Valentine's Day," Sabre said. Rainbow giggled happily at the silly word

"That's the one where you give someone you love cocoa beans, or one of those small fake animals, or flowers" He looked at Sabre's bouquet and squealed.

"Flowers!" He bounced happily "You have a valentine!" He repeated it in a sing-songy voice. Sabre felt all his confidence fade into wanting to jump off the bridge.

"So!" Rainbow stood still at his side once again with a wide smile "Who?"

"Huh"

"Whose your Valentine?"

"I haven't asked him yet, s-so... no one?"

"Who are you going to ask?" Rainbow leaned closer, making Sabre lean to the side "Light? Blue? Red?" Rainbow paused "Lucas?" he questioned, clearly sceptical of it.

"No, none of them" Sabre panicked and turned the question onto Rainbow "How 'bout you Rain? You gonna ask anyone out?"

Rainbow paused, thinking to himself "I don't know..." he said

"No one comes to mind?" Sabre asked

"Well, yeah." Rainbow chuckled dreamily in his thoughts "But- wait!"

He snapped out of it and leaned into Sabre more "Tell me!" Rainbow said.

If Sabre waited any longer he wouldn't have any hearing in his ear. He flushed as he said, "Rain, sit down!"

Rainbow sat down next to him, now intrigued by Sabre's odd ask "Will you tell me now?"

"Kinda?" Sabre looked away from Rainbow and picked up the flowers in his lap. "Rain, I- We've been friends for a long time, right?"

"Yeah?"

"W-well, I've been thinking. I was wondering if... if you would ever consider being anything... more." He extended the flowers to Rainbow, still looking away to the side. Rainbow carefully took the flowers into his hands, looking at them. He noticed that they were the same ones from their truce, years ago. He looked at back up to Sabre, who was looking into the water, fiddling with his fingers.

"Sabre." Rainbow said in a soft and calm voice "Look at me"

Sabre looked over at him timidly. Rainbow leaned closer to him, with a soft smile.

"You love me, Sabre?" Rainbow asked

"I-Uh... Yeah, I love you" Sabre responded, feeling his face heat up.

Rainbow leaned closer, now inches away from his face. "Then yes." He said with a smile and added. "I love you, too"

Sabre gave Rainbow a shy smile back, chuckling nervously. "So we are...?"

Rainbow smile "We're us. Together"

"I like how that sounds"

"Can I kiss you?" Rainbow asked, leaning against Sabre's shoulder. Sabre almost stopped breathing at the request.

"Please do," Sabre said, mystified

Rainbow quickly took hold of Sabre's jaw and pulled him into a lip-lock. Sabre slowly let his eyes drop and melted into it. He felt his whole body tingle as Rainbow threaded his fingers throw his hair, making his hood fall. Sabre moved his hands to Rainbow's chest, pulling him closer. Sabre didn't want it to end but he had to pull away for a breath of air. As Sabre gasped, Rainbow chuckled.

"So, we're a thing now," Sabre said, as more of a statement than a question

"Yep" Rainbow agreed

"Should we... tell the others?" Sabre asked and Rainbow hesitated

"Not yet," he said, "we should probably stabilize ourselves first"

"That works, yeah."

"Won't be too hard... baby" He cooed the last part, as he pressed his head into Sabre's chest Sabre smiled giddily; he could tell he'd have to get used to the sudden extra loving of Rainbow, despite the fact that there was already a lot of it. It would take the others forever to realize anything had changed between them, in fact, as they were already like a couple. Rainbow scooted even closer to Sabre, somehow. He leaned his head onto Rainbow's and looked over the town, never wanting this moment to end.
