Chapter 13

Ben was walking with Ship and M'Gann through The Cave, it was a pretty slow day for some reason or another nearly all the Leaguers had been called into action, with the exception of SHAZAM and Zatara, Zatara was "the babysitter" as Wally liked to put it. But, He couldn't figure out why the SHAZAM was here. Especially since they're the only two out of the whole of the Justice League that haven't gone off to do whatever it is the rest were called for. It's not like it was a big deal, it just didn't make sense, his presence wasn't required so why was he here. Then the computerized voice came over the speakers and said [Recognized: Batman, 0-2.] The Zeta tube hadn't even turned off and the Dark Knight hadn't even fully formed yet when he started barking commands at the computer. "Computer, national news." This got everyone's attention and so they all gathered around and witnessed the holographic screen appear and saw the News Reporter Cat Grant, an attractive, for national TV, blonde woman, began to speak. "The initial attack was short-lived, but Metropolis was only granted a short reprieve." The video then cut to skycam footage of large plant destroying buildings in Metropolis with members of the League fighting it and saving members of the public from being caught up in the disaster, with a voice over from Cat Grant. "And despite the intervention of Superman and the Justice League, there seems to be no end in sight." For a moment everyone just watched, and Ben had to admit this stuff was pretty creative, he'd never fought a plant like this before. Sure, there was that mushroom alien that planned to cover the continental U.S. and the plant that took over his mind creating plant versions of him, Kevin, and Gwen, and the time where he had to stop an old Hybreed weapon made of plants. ...Now that he thought about it strange giant plants were pretty normal to him, but they were all alien in nature, this one appears to be from Earth and is just mutated.

Robin was the first to speak up about what the Team's place in this whole mess was going to be. "Should we get out there?" "No. The League will soon have the situation under control. That's not why I'm here. According to your intel, Sportsmaster supplied Cadmus' Blockbuster formula to Kobra." Batman explained to them. "Who combined it with Bane's Venom to create Kobra Venom." Wally added. "Which The Brain used to create his animal army." Robin said beginning to put the pieces together. "And upgrade Wolf." Superboy said petting the large, mutated wolf. "The Brain also used inhibitor collars like the ones at Belle Reve Penitentiary." M'Gann said. "That looked modified to the specs of one Dr. Aloysius James Animo." Ben said visibly upset he hasn't found Animo yet. "Batman, is it possible that plant thing's on Kobra Venom, too?" Artemis asked after putting a reassuring hand on Ben's shoulder. "I had Green Lantern run a spot analysis. The vine's cellulose does contain trace amounts of a Kobra Venom Variant." Batman responded. "These cannot be coincidences; unrelated criminals are cooperating with one another worldwide." Aqualad said warry of the very real threat that criminals and villains cooperating with one another on this level pose. "Exactly. It's now clear our enemies have formed some kind of secret society of super villains. The attack on Metropolis is only the beginning." Batman said clearly hating that this has come to fruition. Suddenly Robin spoke up. "Got that right. Plant creatures have sprouted in Gotham City, Paris, Star City, Taipei..." As he spoke images of those cities were brought up on the holoscreen where they were covered in vines. 

Then before the Boy Wonder could continue the screens lost all images and were replaced with static. "Dude!" Wally complained thinking Robin messed up. "It's not me. Someone's cutting in the satellite signal. ALL satellite signals!" Robin said in a panic then the static stopped, and the image of a clown appeared on all five screens. Ben screamed, jumped in the air, and hid behind Artemis. "WHAT THE FUCK! GET IT OFF THE SCREEN!" Ben shouted. This gained everyone's attention. "Dude... are you... afraid of clowns?" Wally asked barely able to keep himself from chuckling. "N-n-no! They're just... weird and they freak me out.... OK!?" Ben said angerly. "Quiet." Batman told the Team. The clown then knocked on the camera lens and spoke. "Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt your regularly scheduled mayhem to bring you this important announcement... from the Injustice League." He turned the camera laughing and there were six more individuals waiting to be caught on film. A pale white man in deep red armor, a somehow even paler man who looked like a skeleton wearing a green helmet and a mustard radiation suit, the albino gorilla that Ben soon learned was called The Ultra-Humanite, a man in regal green clothing, next to him was a possibly Egyptian man wearing a black variation of SHAZAM's suit minus the cape, and finally was a redheaded woman with green skin in a leotard that looked to be made of leaves. The center most villain, the one in regal green clothes then spoke in a rather vague middle European accent. "We are responsible for the attacks on your cities. If you wish to save them, a ransom of ten billion American dollars is required. Delivery instructions have sent to the United Nations. There is no time limit. ...But the longer your governments wait..." He trailed off as the clown's hand came into frame, grabbed the camera and moved it over to face him saying. "The more we get to have our... jollies." He then laughed while moving into the camera frame more until the feed cut out.
