A/N - I don't own the movie, I only own my character.

Chapter 1

1996

The sudden ringing of a phone shocked the girl out of her stupor of making the popcorn over the stove. She let out a sigh of relief before calling out and reaching for the phone that was on the counter.

"I got it!"

"Ok!" She hears from the other room. Currently, the girl was over at her best friend's, Casey Becker's, house for their monthly, movie night. The two had been doing this for as long as they could remember, where they would take a weekend every month and spend the whole weekend just eating junk food and watching movies, and even now in high school, couldn't imagine missing their tradition.

"Hello?" She asked into the phone.

"Hello?" A voice responded.

"Yes?"

"Who is this?" At this, the girl gave the phone a weird look.

"I don't know," She replied, "you called me, who're you tryna call?"

"I don't know," Came his response.

At this the girl rolled her eyes a bit, "I think you have the wrong number."

"Do I?"

The girl nodded, even though the man couldn't see her, "Yeah, it happens. Take it easy now."

She hangs up the phone and continues making the popcorn, giving it a quick shake.

"Who was it?" Casey asked from the living room. The girl looks back to where the other girl was. The tv was still blank as Casey was still looking for a movie to put on. The girl shrugged. "Just a wrong number, I guess." The other girl nods before going back to her previous task.

The phone rings again.

"I got it," she replies, "again."

The girl picks up the phone while still shaking the popcorn. "Hello?"

The same voice from before responds, "I'm sorry. I guess I dialed the wrong number."

The girl leans her head back for a second in silent agony. "So you decided to call again?"

"To apologize."

"You're forgiven. Bye now." The girl goes to hang up the phone.

"Wait! Wait, don't hang up!" The man calls out. The girl pauses. "What?"

"I want to talk to you for a second." A hand reaches from behind the girl and grabs the phone. "They've got 900 numbers for that. See ya." Casey then hangs up the phone. The two girls just look at each other in slight shock. "That was weird." Casey nodded in agreement.

"Was that Steve? I didn't think he'd be that annoyed to try and prank call." The girl asked. The girl was referring to how Casey had bailed on a date with Steve to hang out with her friend instead. Casey shook her head, "No way. That's not like him and he knows this is important to us, Angel."

"Anyways, I'll finish with the popcorn and you go get the movie. I know you've been dying to watch Clueless again."

Angel becomes excited from hearing that prospect and rushes upstairs to Casey's room. Another thing about movie night, the two loved watching horror movies, but Clueless was a favorite of Angel's and she was always excited when she got the chance to watch it.

While running upstairs, Angel heard the phone ring again, but she ignored it in favor of looking for the videotape. The first place she checked was her bag that she had packed and had never taken it out during the weekend. However, when she looked, it wasn't where it was supposed to be. Even when she turned her bag upside down and everything had fallen out, the tape still wasn't there.

"Huh."

The girl continued to look around again and started searching under the bed, wondering if she had knocked over her bag and it was under there.

Nothing.

The girl decided to search Casey's desk and bookcase in case Casey's parents had seen it and had placed it there. She heard a loud noise downstairs but thought that Casey had dropped the phone or a cup again and paid it no mind as she kept looking for the DVD.

After a second, the girl pretty much gave up and cleaned everything back up.

As she was leaving the room in disappointment, her eyes landed on the familiar videotape on the hallway table, and excitedly picked up the tape as she heard another noise downstairs.

"Casey?!" She called in worry and she ran back down the stairs and promptly dropped the tape when she saw the mess.

"Casey!" She rushed to the living room to find her friend but didn't see anyone. Turning back to the kitchen in a panic, she looked for the phone and tried dialing 911 but heard no sound coming from the phone.

Angel noticed the broken door and went towards it but stopped and backed away in horror. She gasped in terror when she saw Steve Ortho bloody and tied to a chair. The girl backed away with the intent of running out the front door and calling for help, but before she could even turn something hit the back of her head and everything went black.
