Caspian, with his head bandaged, opens his eyes. He is quick to look around for Emily but there's no sign of her. He takes off the bandage and gets up.
Voices echo through the small home as he looks warily around the corner. He notices Emily talking happily with the badger.
"This bread is so stale.", Nikabrik, the dwarf, complains.
"I‟ll just get him some soup then.", Trufflehunter, the badger, replies.
"He likes soup right?"
"Yes he does.", Emily smiles at him.
"You said you were going to get rid of him.", Nikabrik grumbles.
"No, I said I‟d take care of him.", Trufflehjnter corrects his friend.
"Well, I don‟t think I hit him hard enough."
"Nikabrik, he‟s just a boy!"
"He‟s a Telmarine, not some lost puppy! They both are.", Nikabrik turns to glare at the girl sitting across from him.
"We can‟t kill him now, not after bandaging its head. It would be like murdering a guest. And you know they are no like other Telmarine's."
"Ah, and how do you think his friends are treating their guest?", Nikabrik ignores his last statement.
"Trumpkin knew what he was doing."
Caspian bolts for Emily, making Trufflehunter drop the bowl of soup.
Nikabrik stands in Caspian‟s the way. Caspian pulls a hot poker from the fire and blocks Nikabrik‟s blows.
"See? I told you we should‟ve killed him!", Nikabrik exclaims.
"You know why we can‟t!"
"If you‟re taking a vote, I‟m with him."
"Caspian stop! It's alright, we're friends!"
Caspian eyes the girl warily as she comes to stand with him. His eyes are squinted as he holds a hand to her forehead.
"Your not warm, but that doesn't mean your delusions are fever induced."
She rolls her eyes at him as Nikabrik and Trutflehunter continue to argue.
"We can‟t let him go! He has seen us!"
Nikabrik swings his sword a few more times, but Caspian blocks him.
"That‟s enough, Nikabrik! Or do I have to sit on your head again?", Nikabrik stops with a grimace.
"Now, look what you made me do! I spent half the morning on that soup."
"Wh-what are you?", Caspian asks.
"It‟s funny. You‟d think more people would recognize a badger when they saw one."
"No, I mean... You‟re Narnians. You‟re supposed to be extinct.", Caspian points out.
