MARIA WALKED OUT OF the gym, feeling slightly tired. She decided to head back to the quad. She walked down the hallways, watching the students smile and talk with their parents. Well, most of them. Maria sighed, entering the quad and sitting on a nearby bench that was free. Someone sits down next to her. "How was basketball practice?" Enid's voice is what Maria heard, she turned to the person next to her, seeing it was Enid,
"It was good. Coach is thinking of making me team captain." Maria smiled slightly. Enid gave her a grin and threw an arm around Maria's shoulder, which was slightly difficult, due to their height difference. "That's great! I'm happy for you." Enid said, making Maria smile and ruffle the girls hair, making Enid swat her hand away and take her arm off her shoulder, grumbling while trying to fix her hair.
Maria laughed. "How was seeing your parents?" Maria asked, Enid's mood dimmed and Maria took notice. "Is everything okay?" Maria asked. "Ah. It's just my mother keeps pressuring me for me to wolf out." Enid said, Maria shook her head. "You need to tell her you will wolf out in your own time." Maria said, giving her a reassuring side hug.
Enid looked down. "I- I don't know if I can-" Enid started but Maria shook her head. "I know you can. If she can't accept that you will wolf out in your own time. Then that's not a supportive parent. Sorry if I'm being harsh but you have to tell her. And she needs to accept it." Maria said, Enid sighed.
"I.. guess I could try tell her?" Enid mumbled and Maria grinned. She gives the werewolf a kiss on the cheek. "I believe in you, Pup." Maria said and Enid's eyes widen, her face red. "You- you said it in English.." Enid mumbled and Maria's eyes widen and she sheepishly grins. "Oh.. wait you knew what it meant?" Maria questioned.
Enid nodded. "When you have me the paper. Wednesday figured out her nickname too. I forgot to tell you." Enid said. Maria grinned. "Of course you guys did. I wouldn't expect any less of you. You're both amazing." Maria rambled, talking about how great they are, not noticing Enid's flushed face, or Wednesday frozen behind them going to tap Maria's shoulder.
Maria turns around, sensing someone behind her, "Wednesday! Come sit with us." Maria said, tapping the seat on her left. Wednesday shook her head and sat down next to Maria, so now she's inbetween the two on the bench. "How was basketball practice...?" Wednesday mumbled.
Maria grinned and pat her head before smirking and ruffling her hair. "It was good." She said, blocking a punch to the stomach from the small goth. Enid grumbles and Maria throws an arm around her shoulder, making the girl stop. "Where's your parents?" Wednesday asked, and Maria's smile falls slightly, which both girls caught, before it returns. "Ah. Well my mother won't be coming." Maria said.
Enid looked curious. "Oh, is she busy?" Enid asked. Maria chuckled sadly. "I don't think my mother would be busy. I mean she's not.. here anymore." It took a few seconds for them both to realise. "Oh.. sorry." Enid mumbled. Maria grinned and shook her head. "It's fine. She's in a better place now." Maria replied.
Wednesday looked up at the tall girl. "What about your father.?" Wednesday asked, making Maria look at the ground, her eyes darkening with hate. Both girls notice this and Enid gave Wednesday a concerned look, Wednesday not returning it but feeling a bit concerned.
"As far as I am aware. I don't have a father." Maria's voice was laced with venom. "Well.. then who enrolled you here.?" Enid asked. "Viktor Ivanov." Maria said. "But isn't your last name Ivanov-.?" Enid asked but Wednesday cut her off. "In Weems office. You interrupted her and introduced yourself as Maria Borisyuk, which I'm assuming which is your mothers Maiden name. But you went by the name Maria Ivanov legally.. so will you explain?" Wednesday asked.
Maria chuckled. "Your as sharp and blunt as ever, Wednesday." Maria said, looking at the girl before staring at all the parents around. "Viktor Ivanov, he isn't my real father. He had an arranged marriage with my mother. When I was on the run, I found my mothers diary." Maria started, waving her hands around as a nervous habit.
"She had an affair with a man, who I later found out his name was Alexander Rose. He's my real father. But some things happened and Alexander died when I was young, my mother not too long after. So Viktor had to take care of me legally. And he isn't a very nice 'parent.' He hates outcasts." Maria finished. Enid hugged her. "I'm so sorry that happened to you!" Enid started rambling.
Maria shushed her by putting a finger on her lips. "It's okay. I just wanted to share this with you. You guys are my.. friends.." Maria said, saying the last part a bit weirdly. Enid smiled a bit weirdly. Wednesday nodded slightly. "Wait.." Maria mumbled, putting on a thinking face, turning her head from Enid to Wednesday. "Who did you guys go to the dance with?" Maria asked, curious.
"I went with Tyler if you didn't know when he was at Nevermore before you staked out into the woods." Wednesday said. "Oh.. yeah." Maria said. Enid smiled. "I went with Ajax." She said, a soft smile on her face. Maria gave her a hesitant smile back before thinking.
"Wasn't he the guy who made you sob in your pillow for like 3 hours when I went to buy you food and presents?" Maria asked. Enid hesitated before nodding. Maria sighed. "If he does it again I'll cut the snakes off his head." Maria said, making Enid nod a bit and Wednesday smirk.
"Can you get some more chicken nuggets from the McDonalds place.? they were disgusting." Wednesday said, Maria smirked. "You like them." Maria teased. Wednesday shook her head in denial. "No I want to torture Pugsley with them. He probably won't like them either." Wednesday lied. Maria grinned and shook her head, knowing the girl was lying.
"It's fine I'll get you some more later on, if you don't stab me for a week.. deal?" Maria asked. Wednesday narrowed her eyes. "A day." She said, Maria gave her a look. "A week." "2 days." "A week." "3 days final offer." Wednesday said, crossing her arms and narrowing her eyes. Maria sighed. "Fine, 3 days" She relented and Wednesday smirked slightly. Enid shook her head, thinking. 'They are crazy roomies. But they are my roomies so I like them.' She thought, smiling.
