The beginning

It's been about a month since the whole zombie thing happened that would mean it been a month since dad "died" Shane said that he is but me and Carl don't want to give up hopes i mean my dad a police officer mom told us that we should stop believing that he alive but what does she know, the last time we saw dad was in the hospital that's when he got shot by the bad man, Shane said that he tried to save him but there were so many dead people that he locked dad away from them so they couldn't get him I feel like there something going on between mom and Shane but Carl told me not to worry about it so I'm not going to. We met a new friend named Sophia she real nice but I think Carl has a small crush on her which I would be surprised we also met Glenn she real funny he likes to play with us every time he gets back from his runs into town we found a little group and we're staying with them there's Amy, Daryl, Dale, Glenn, Carol and a few more but the ones I don't like is Mereral he really mean mom tries to keep him away from me and Carl.

"Hey Masie?" I hear a voice say from the tent that me and Carl were staying in along with mom "Yeah Carl?" I ask "I wanted to know if you wanted to come with me and Sophia to catch frogs?" Carl asked "Sure" I say putting down the notebook I found "How long as it been now" he asked "Almost a month" i sigh knowing what he was talking about "I know mom said we should stop but I still think dads out there looking for us" Carl said as we walked down the creek "Me too Carl me too" I say wrapping him into a hug "Hey guys!" Sophia said running towards us "Hey Sofia'' me and Carl say we all head towards the creek "How many frogs do you think we'll catch?" Carl asks "I dunno saying last time we caught like 5 of them" Sophia said "Hey look there's Glenn" I say dragging them towards him "Hey guys'' Glenn said "Hey Glenn" we say sitting down on the dock "You guys catching some frogs?" Glenn asked "Yep are you gonna stay here and help us?" Carl asked "I wish but I'm going with Andrea, Merel and a few others into the city to see what we can find'' Glenn said "Hey if you find any comics or anything do you think you can bring them back for me and Masie?" Carl asked "Or even just a normal book you think we'll like" I said "Alright should I get anything for your mom?" Glenn asked, "I dunno? Maybe some crossword books" I say shrugging "Alright have you guys seen Shane?" Glenn said "Last time we saw him he was with Dale" Carl said

"Ok I should get going before they leave without me" Glenn said "Ok bye Glenn" Me Carl and Sophia said "Ok frog time" Sophia said we tried catching frogs for a while while playing in the water just having a fun time "Hey Sophia, Masie, Carl" Carol said "Hey Carol" me and Carl say "Hey guys, Sophia Amy wants you she said something about learning how to make bracelets? Also Reya and Carl, your mom wants to talk to you" Carol say "Oh ok" I say we got out of the water and me and Carl headed to where our mom was "Yes?" I ask "Where were you guys?" Mom asked "We were just down by the creek trying to catch frogs" Carl said "Why would you want to do that" She asked "because sit fun and besides Dad the one who taught us how" I say she sigh and looks at me "Don't" I say "Masie hunny your father is dead" Lori says and "Stop it you keep saying that but just stop telling us to stop believing to stop having hope" I said Shane walks over "Hey what's going on?" He asked, "It's none of your business!" I said "Hey Masie be nice" Lori said and I just kept quiet "So what's going on" He asked "it's nothing" I say walking away "Masie wait up!" I hear Carl say while he is running after me he grabs my hand as we head towards our tent

"You ok?" Carl asked "Yeah never better" I said "You sure? It's ok to cry" He said sitting next to me "Carl im ok im not going to cry" I say we heard someone tapping on the tent "Who is it?" Carl asked "It's me Shane" He said I groaned as Shane walked in "Carl do you mind if I talk to your sister alone?" He asked Carl nodded and walked out the tent "What?" I say "I just wanted to check up on you" He said "You don't have to do that your not my dad" I say "I know that but if your dad was here he would have checked up on you" He said "And who fault is that!" I say "Come on Masie that's not fair i tried" he said "Not hard enough you could of tried harder but you didn't you left him there and you know that my dad would have done anything to save you so no you didn't try you gave up that's what you did then proceeded to tell to tell us that we should give up on him!" I yelled "Masie" He said "NO get out get out get out! Just leave me alone" I yelled. Shane nodded and walked out the tent. I sat down on my sleeping bag and cried. Carl came back in and just sat with me and hugged me.
