Exodus's Pov
I stand with my back against the wall, cornered. The world famous superhero Apex is pointing a gun at me.
Well this is it, I officially lost, I think to myself. I'm going to die.
"Go on then" I say "Shoot me"
Apex stares at me still holding the gun. He's breathing hard and shaking.
"Get it over with" I yell.
"S- shit" he says. His voice cracks. It sounds like he's crying.
"Are you going to shoot me?" I ask.
He looks me in the eye then just breaks down.
"RUN" He yells at me.
I'm confused. He's telling me to run? It has to be a trap. He's still pointing the gun at me.
"RUN GOD DAMMIT" He yells even louder than before.
He's crying and shaking. He looks terrified.
I slowly start walking towards him, holding eye contact. He's still facing the gun towards me. He could shoot me st any second.
I reach where he's standing. Still looking in his eyes, I grab the gun and throw it on the ground. I take him in my arms and he just collapses.
I hold him while he's crying and shaking. "Breathe" I say soothingly. "Breathe" He lets out a little shaky breath. He's much calmer now.
Apex's pov
I can't believe I'm being held by my worst enemy. I was supposed to kill him. But I couldn't. I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
He lets go of me and looks me in the eyes. My heart races. He grabs the sides of my face. My heart skips a beat.
"Are you ok?" He asks. I nod. "I'm fine" I reply.
"I can't do this anymore" i blurt.
He looks confused. "Do what?"
I lift up my mask.
He looks shocked. "Tomas" he says a little breathless.
Now I'm confused. He knows my name. How?
He lifts up his mask as well. Now I know how he knows me.
"Aaron" I say.
My next door neighbor. The man I've been in love with since I've moved in my apartment.
I'm feeling really brave so I scoot closer to him. Our faces inches apart. I take a deep breath and I kiss him.
He's a little surprised but is not slow to kiss back.
We kiss for what seems like forever. Then we break apart. He puts his forehead against mine.
"I love you" he whispers.
"I love you too" I say back.
"I'm sorry Tomas"
"Sorry for what?"
Then I feel a piercing cold pain through my stomach. I look down and find he stabbed me. I'm loosing blood fast.
"I thought you loved me" I sat, heartbroken.
"I do." He says standing up. "But not enough to let you win"
