THE WORLD WAS A CRUEL PLACE. That's old news, filled with filthy people who did filthy things. Filled with people that others would consider monsters, much like his own father. They used to be the scariest monsters that walked the earth, that was until the dead began to walk.
You'd think that the world would be worse than the one before for everyone. Except for some it was better, especially if they lived with the old monsters. Despite all the death that followed with the world crumbling to specks of dust, some people preferred the way life became. When you live with monsters you'd pray for a life better than that one, even if the consequence was the undead hunting you down. Even though he was surrounded by death and lost people he held near and dear, he still preferred this life than his last.
Even with the undead monsters and the new monsters that people became in this world, he felt invincible. It was like he made some kind of unknown contract with a devil. Enjoy his new life despite who ever is taken from him at any moment and he will survive this world. Be thankful for what he has now and he will make it out alive. He wasn't sure if he was happy about it or not, but he enjoyed his new life and he was thankful for it. He would miss people, cry for them in the darkest of nights, but he would never go back to what was before.
He would quickly adapt to what awaited him in the world, fight like a panther for what he thought was right. He would love like he never had before, and cry harder than he ever has when the ones he loves are ripped from his arms. He would fight for his place in the world, fight for the feeling of being needed. Even if no one was ever truly needed in the world anymore. People would die and others would move on, it'd be lonely without them but life had to move on. Blood would shed and the earth would drink it. Death was around every corner, hiding in the shadows like a starved dog hunting for its prey, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
The world was and still is a cruel place. Old monsters died and new ones rose. The world will never be perfect, so you take the best of bad. People no longer owned this world, Jesus no longer owned this world, the monsters didn't even own this world. The new world belonged to the fate of tomorrow. This was now The World of Tomorrow.
