Tape #13 - daddy dearest does something stupid (so do i)

Caleb

When she walked away, Trev and I stared at each other for a hot minute, contemplating what to do. For all we know, Ivory could secretly be so smart and cunning as to have said that to us to ensure that we don't get away— but then again, people like that wouldn't waste their time butting in on business that wasn't theirs.

If I'm being totally for real— my appetite won, and I was down to stay. But I was waiting for Trevor to make the decision, because I'm a submissive bitch.

"We should leave." He said with a serious tone, but then he looked at my expression and sighed, "But at any other place we may not get so lucky as to have our waiter openly express they have our back."

I gave him a wide smile despite myself, not sure if he chose to stay because I wanted to or because he was hungry as well for a proper meal.

"Here you go, Your Highness." Ivory said as she came back and set my drink in front of me, followed with Trevor. The way she worded it was formal, but her tone of voice made it sound like an inside joke.

     "No- that's n- I'm not- " I stammered like a bitch, "I don't have that title anymore."

She waved a hand, as if shooing off my statement, "It's in your blood. They can't take that away, darling, unless you let them. Don't let them." She gave a dazzling unforced white smile, "And it's stupid that you should have to hide who you are because of where you're from." She says to Trevor.

I knew right then that I had to become friends with her. Even though she looked about our age (How old is Trevor?)— she seemed infinitely older. Although she was wrong about one thing, Trevor wouldn't ever hide who he was if he weren't in so much danger.

"What's your number? You seem really cool." I ignored the cocked eyebrow Trevor gave me as Ivory wrote it down on a napkin and handed it to me.

"You guys seem great too, saving each other like that. I don't know anybody who'd do that for me. Or anybody I'd do that for."

Surprise bitch, after this we haven't seen the last of her.

When we got back to our dank motel room, the first thing I did was save her number in my phone and gave her my signature 'hey bitch 😘' and counted on her to know it was me. It's at times like this where I question how I didn't used to know I was gay. Everyone knew except me, I'm sure.

Trevor immediately plopped down on his bed, as if our trip actually took energy out of him. Compared to yesterday, today is much less eventful (famous last words). But at least there's one person from the outside who I can hopefully talk to.

I'm not sure why Trevor isn't saying anything about me talking to Ivory— isn't this putting both us and her in some kind of danger? Now that she knows who and where we are, the demons probably do too. Actually, it's probably for the best that we move to a different area of Enchantia.

I'm about to vocalize my thoughts to Trevor until I realize he's already packing— I suppose he was waiting for me to come to the same conclusion that he supposedly already did. I begin to follow suit and there's a moment where it's just us— coexisting in silence.

"Why did you let me talk to her like that?" I asked him after I got tired of the silence.

He sighed, "Because you need someone to talk to besides me. Besides, when we leave, it's not like she's gonna know anything the rest of the world and the demons don't already know." He then gave me a side-eye, "Don't think we're becoming friends. I'm just not gonna be an asshole if I don't need to be."
