×× Skylar ××

When her class got dismissed, Skylar felt a sense of relief wash over her. As if it wasn't bad enough that Romeo was home after just one class, she'd been texting Skylar all day-- sending snapchats too-- to brag about her freedom. It was funny to Skylar because she knew how sweet revenge would be, but she was tired and wanted nothing more than to leave campus and rest since her brain felt fried.

She tucked her phone into the pocket of her denim overall and zipped it then got her iPod out of her backpack and walked out of her class slowly as she searched for an appropriate playlist to listen to, to get her energy up.

Justin had been waiting patiently for Skylar, right outside her class. He'd realised that he missed her presence and he hadn't even asked her out on a date since they'd confessed to each other that they had feelings for one another.

He was feeling confident. Justin knew that, now that things were clear between him and Skylar, rejection was something that just wouldn't happen. Weeks ago though, he wouldn't have dared to even suggest he wanted to take her out. He'd accepted then that the coffee shop was the best 'date' he and Skylar would've ever gone on.

"Freedom feels good, doesn't it?" He smiled when he saw Skylar walk out of her class.

She hadn't seen him standing there but when she heard his voice, her face lit up a little and all of a sudden, her day wasn't all so crappy anymore.

"Freedom feels amazing." She smiled at him. "You've been waiting out here for me?"

Justin nodded, blushing as he felt silly.

"That's sweet of you. Thanks." Skylar said.

She put her iPod in her backpack and tried not to look too happy about seeing Justin. She pushed some of her hair out of her face and cleared her throat.

"How long have you been free?" She decided to ask Justin as they walked together.

"Just for three hours." He said. "I should be in the library to finish some work but I can't be bothered to. I don't have the energy."

"Procrastination." Skylar smiled.

"Yeah. I'm a last minute type of guy when it comes to my school work. Especially when it comes to business."

"I'm sure you'll be okay."

"I hope so."

They walked silently for a while and that made their minds drift. Things  had become somewhat awkward between them since they did the whole confession thing.

"Uh, what are you doing this Saturday?" Justin decided to ask.

He nervously tucked his hands into his pockets and tried not to look at Skylar when he asked.

"Saturday? I have work." Skylar said sadly.

"Work?"

"Yup. At a retail store at the mall." She said, "Not all of us can get our parents to get us nice things so..."

"How's that going for you?"

Skylar shrugged.

"It's fine. I'm on my feet a lot but it's a boutique and not that many people pop in. That's cool."

"You get paid to just stand in there and look pretty, basically."

"I'm not complaining." Skylar smiled. "The less I have to deal with whining customers, the better."

"Less stress for you."

"Absolutely."

Silence again.
