ASTREA (아스트레아), or sometimes referenced as STREA (스트레아), is a South Korean girl group formed by the survival program PROJECT ASTREA, a collaboration project show between JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment. The membersconsist of Ohara Yuki, Xu Yinmei, Son Mihee, Jeon Yurin, Choi Taeyeong, Jung Eunji, Baek Sua, and Yoon Nabi. ASTREA officially debuted on September 10, 2024, under PLANET MUSIC, a collaboration sublabel between the two companies that only hosts the group's full group activities. Although the group is formed through a reality show (similar to I.O.I and IZ*ONE), ASTREA will be a permanent group, not a temporary group, but will be primarily promoted as separate subunits under their representative companies.
What does ASTREA mean? ASTREA refers to the Greek mythology celestial being Astrea, the daughter of Astraeus and Eos. It is said that Astrea abandoned Earth during the Iron Age, fleeing the new wickedness of humanity. She ascended to heaven, becoming a constellation, to one day come back on Earth, bringing with her the utopian of the golden age, which she was the ambassador of.
