'Where am I? Am I in a room?'

Yuu is currently in a room in a house. It looks like a dining room. The interior looks so bland and plain, there's not even a single picture in the room. Isn't the dining room suppose to have a cheerful atmosphere as you talk with your family? The most concerning part at the moment apart from the normal and bland-looking room is that the environment is completely in monochrome colours. They were about to investigate the room when saw two people talking to each other. One looks like a smaller version of Riddle without all the seriousness he usually harbours on his face. The other looks like his guardian.

"Happy eighth birthday, Riddle. Your birthday cake this year is a low-sugar, high-lecithin cake made with soy flour and nuts." - ???

'Is this Riddle's memory? What's with this birthday cake? It sounds so plain, what is even lecithin? Even if there are health benefits, I would not even want to eat them. Why is everything so plain anyway?'

"Thank you, mama. But, umm, I... Just once, I really want to try a tart covered in bright red strawberries..." - Riddle

'It's surprisingly a simple request...looking at how he acted I thought he would have asked for something more, surely the mother would at least fulfil his birthday wish?'

"How could you say such a thing! That pastry is a mound of sugar that's more like poison. One slice will exceed your ideal intake of carbohydrates. Today, we're having tuna sauté with plenty of docosahexaenoic and eicosatetraenoic acid. Ahh, but at age eight your ideal caloric intake is less than 600 calories per meal so don't eat more than 100 grams. Alright?" - Riddle's Mother

"...Yes, mama." - Riddle

'What the hell is wrong with this mother!? Riddle, you could have at least fought back!' thought Yuu. The scene suddenly darkened and switched to Riddle standing in the middle of nothingness. Yuu was confused at this change in the surrounding.

"For so long, a strawberry tart was what I wanted to eat. In the cake shops around town, they're on display in the window, tarts that look like jewels."

'! We're back in the dining room earlier?'

"Let's end your classical magic studies here for today. You have until tomorrow to review the magical ethics that you learned today and get through page 50 of your language philosophy text. To that end, I'll give you an hour to study for your next potions lesson." - Riddle's Mother

"Yes, mother." - Riddle

'It's not a dining room but a study room? Also, didn't he call his mother more lovingly last scene? He's more formal now.'

"Your mother has an errand to run so I'll be back in an hour." - Riddle's Mother

"My every moment was crammed to the brim with every possible discipline. Time spent learning extended until I could do it. But for me, this was 'normal'."

'Normal? Like hell this was normal, it's stricter than most already.'

*Tock tock*

"...Someone's knocking on the window?" - Riddle

"Oh, he came!" - ???

"Hey, hey. Come play with us!" - ???

'Is that Trey and Che'nya?'

"Who are you?" - Riddle

"I'm Che'nya! This is Trey! Let's play croquet!" - Che'nya

"Eh...I can't. Now is my self-study time. I have to keep studying." - Riddle

"Self-study means that you decide what you study. My grand-paw says playing is kind of like study too." - Che'nya

'Smart.'

"Will you come down for a bit?" - Trey

"...J-just for a bit." - Riddle

"Can I ask for your name?" - Trey

"R-Riddle. Riddle Rosehearts." - Riddle

"Playing with Trey and Che'nya was so much fun. I learned new things and played new games. They taught me so much. From that day on, during my self-study time without telling my mother, I left my room."

'That was your room??? It doesn't look like a good room for kids at all. Eh? It's outdoors this time.'

"Eh, Riddle, you've never had a strawberry tart?" - Che'nya

"Mother says it's like poison so I can't." - Riddle

"Well, you shouldn't probably eat too much... My family owns a cake shop. Let's go eat some." - Trey

"Eh...but-" - Riddle

"One piece will be fine." - Trey

"I could go for a whole one right about meow." - Che'nya

"Atop a pure white plate, a brilliant red strawberry tart. For me, it shined brighter than any jewel. The first bite was wonderfully sweet, it was better than anything I'd ever had... I savoured each bite and got lost in it. Lost track of time." - Riddle

'I don't like where this is going.'

"How could you! You skipped out on studying to go outside and eat a mound of sugar! Those two instigated it. I won't allow you to spend time with those bad children ever again!" - Riddle's Mother

"I'm sorry, mother! I won't do it again so forgive me...!" - Riddle

"Silence! This is because you broke the rules. Aah, I should have never given you so much free time. I have to keep an even better watch over you..." - Riddle's Mother

"If I broke the rules, my time for fun was completely taken away. That's why the rules mother makes, I have to follow. In this town, mother is the most respected which makes her correct. But...tell me, mama. Why? Why does my chest hurt like this? Just on my birthday would be fine, I want to eat a bunch of tarts. I want to play outside for hours. I want to make more and more friends." - Riddle

"Tell me, mama, what rules should I follow...to make this pain go away?"

...

...

...

"Riddle!!!" - Trey
