Eventually, she got to the second floor and looked in front of her for any information she could jot down to use as a clue. To her disgust, a rotting corpse lay there with a sword right in the middle of their stomach: blood had dried up on their shirt and some blood lay on the wooden planks Vanessa currently stood on. Suddenly, she heard some weeping noises: they were getting closer and closer. Before it got too close, Vanessa looked at the dead body’s wrists, there were green fingerprints, fingerprints only ghosts could make. Quickly, she took out her book and ticked off fingerprints on the list of clues. She felt relieved, she finally found a clue! Then, in a blink of an eye, a crying ghost figure appeared and disappeared. The sobbing grew louder and started ringing in Vanessa’s ears. She couldn’t take it anymore! She packed up her book and grabbed her flashlight off the dusty floor, and ran down the stairs she came up in. This was the fastest she had ever run! As she turned pale and her blood dropped down into her legs, she got off the stairs, slightly jumping. Full of relief, the ghost had not shut the front door when it appeared, clearly about to start hunting her. Any moment the ghost would go into hunt mode, lock the door and kill Vanessa out of pure rage, or sadness as it seemed? Having this in mind, Vanessa sprinted to the open door and got out of the house. A millisecond later the door slammed close by itself, and the crying grew louder. Vanessa had been so close to death.  

Now that she was outside, she calmed down and felt the warmth of the air. She took out her book once more and scanned the list of clues: unfortunately, she had only got one clue: fingerprints. This meant the ghost could be a poltergeist or a banshee. Then, she remembered how cold it was in the building. It had to be a banshee! This made sense to her now, banshees usually weep while poltergeists normally throw objects. She had successfully found out the type of ghost and left to go give the information to her chief.
