Trench Town..

Trench Town??

Him sick inna him fucking head??

Him know how down desso dangerous?

Hanging up the phone before the taxi company could answer, I swipe over to Google, typing in the address on the paper.

I want a exact location. How deep in the ghetto am I going?

Does Trench Town have any good parts?

I mean, I grew up in August Town, not the safest place either, but at least there are good parts. When killings happen there, it's mostly at the very bottom, mi live a the top.

"4th Street, Trench Town" I read the paper.

The first thing that popped up on Google was a killing that occurred there.

Jesus.

Reading more, I factor out the key words; Gang violence, Special Operation, Don and murders.

Him really expect mi fi meet him here? And mi nuh know him like that??

Hell Hell Hell to the no.

My phone started vibrating, Naldo's name appearing on screen and I answer the call, putting the phone at my ear.

"Yuh busy right now?" he's the first to speak and I look at the paper in hand, nervously chewing on my bottom lip.

Am I?

Should I go?

"Can ask yuh something?" I put a pause on his question.

"Talk nuh"

"Someone invited me to meet them, but it's at Trench Town. Do you thi-"

"Yuh nah go desso" he cut me off.

"But yuh not even listen-"

"Mi nuh need fi hear nothing else. Mi say yuh nuh fi go" he spoke a bit more sternly and I pout.

"Why yah ask if mi busy?" I go back to his question.

"Me a fawud fi yuh. Put on something decent" his tone changed to a much nicer one and I look around my bedroom.

"We're going out? In the middle of the day? On a Saturday? When people deh a road?" I ask, hesitant.

We've barely travelled at day. Only early mornings and night time... I guess that's why I was so comfortable going out with him.
