Third POV
The next day, Percy opened his eyes. He wasn't asleep. He hadn't slept all night and to be honest, he didn't even need to. He looked around at the multiple people that surrounded him. The cabin was crowded to all hell, not doubt about that. Unfortunately, that meant it smelt of sweat and musk. Percy stood and with speed that made him a blur to everyone that's not him, left the cabin.
He stopped when he reached the hearth placed in the middle of the cabins. He took a deep breath of the fresh air and stretched. The sun was just rising. He looked around, taking in the appearance of every cabin. When his eyes landed on a cabin that seemed to be designed to look like the ocean, it called out to him.
He narrowed his eyes at the cabin and made his way over to the long, low solid building. Just as he went to grab the doorknob, someone called out to him.
"I wouldn't do that!" Percy turned to the voice. It was Chiron, out of his chair this time. Now he had the bottom half of a large white horse. His tail flicked around nervously. "Huh, should've guessed that Chiron meant the centaur from mythology." Percy said to himself. Chiron nodded with a small smile on his face. "Who's cabin is this?" Percy asked. Chiron hesitated the shook his head. "You couldn't be his son." He said. Percy frowned. "That doesn't answer my question." He said. Chiron ignored him.
"You're mother is leaving soon. You should speak to her." Percy nodded and followed the horse man to the big house. His mom was sitting on the white, wrap around porch in a lawn chair. She was dressed in an orange shirt that says 'Camp Half-Blood' with a Pegasus on the front. He eyed the shirt.
"Is that a mandatory uniform?" He asked. Sally laughed and Chiron nodded while chuckling. "Welp, I'm going home today. Come on mom." Chiron grabbed Percy's shoulder to stop him from walking away. "It's not that bad." Sally laughed. "It's hideous." Percy 'corrected'. Chiron shook his head. "You'll be fine my boy, I assure you." He said good naturedly. Percy groaned. "So, anything you'd like to explain before I leave?" Sally asked. Percy seemed to think.
"Gabe's car was pretty much totaled in my fight last night." He answered. His mom looked horrified. "To be fair, it wasn't my fault." Percy said and lifted his hands in a surrendering way. She shook her head. "It's fine. I'll explain as an accident of the storm last night." She said. Percy held back a frown when he saw and smelled his mother's reaction to the car information.
"Argus will take you home." Sally nodded and gave Percy a final hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I'll see you later. Right?" She asked. Percy smiled. "Of course. I don't plan on dying anytime soon." He replied. "Death is often never planned." Chiron said. "Wow. Thanks positive Peter." Percy snarked. Sally giggled tearfully. "Good-bye, Percy." She said. "See ya later mom." Sally walked away from the two and towards the hill.
"Chiron, what do you know about Gabe?" Percy asked still watching his mother walk away. "What do you mean?" The centaur asked. "Have you ever met him?" Percy asked. "No. You're mother simply told me she married him in order to hide your scent. Nothing more." Chiron explained. "You would know more of the man than I." Percy nodded. He did know Gabe better than anyone in the camp, but did he know him as well as his mother did? Did she hide anything else from him.
"Something on your mind?" Chiron asked. "Vengeance." Percy replied, but... it didn't sound like Percy. The voice sounded older. Angrier. "Percy?" Chiron asked. "Hm?" The boy asked, back to normal. Chiron eyed him warily. "It's time for breakfast. Come." He said and started trotting away. Percy jogged to catch up to him. Chiron took Percy to a pavilion full of tables. There was twelve in rows of six. At the front was an extra table.
Chiron picked a conch shell off of one of the pillars closer to the head table and blew it. Percy stood next to Chiron as the man from last night appeared. Literally, he just appeared. Percy avoided looking at the man. He didn't need another headache or worse, for him to take control. Not longer after, dozens of kids around Percy's age all filed in. About ninety percent of them looked at me with confusion. The others either paid me no mind or looked at me with interest. Once they were all seated, Chiron spoke loudly.
"Heroes! As you can see, we have a new member among our ranks. This is Percy Jackson and unfortunately, he is undetermined. Treat...." Chiron paused as a green light bathed Percy. Looking up, he saw a glowing green trident above his head. Every gasped. "Oh boy. Here we go." The chubby man muttered.
"By the gods. I had hoped this wasn't the case." Chiron muttered to himself. "All hail! Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon. God of the seas, the storm bringer, the earth shaker!" He said and bowed. All the kids also stood and bowed. Percy looked around at them, clearly uncomfortable with what he was seeing.
Finally, they all stood up. Chiron laid a hand on his shoulder and used his other hand to gesture towards an empty table close to the head, only behind one other on the right. Percy grabbed a plate and would've went over to the table to eat, but he was stopped by Chiron.
"It's custom to sacrifice the best looking part of your meal to your Godly parent and any of god you wish to pray to." He exclaimed. Percy nodded and joined the line of demigods that was sacrificing their food. He thought about what he'd say to his father. Once he reached the fire he made his choice. He tossed a pancake into the fire and simply thought 'thanks for the acknowledging my existence dad'. He then tossed in all of his bacon and a few sausages.
'Lady Artemis, I hear you're a protector of women. I know she's not a maiden, but can you check on my mom? My stepdad is... a terrible person. I know my mom is strong, but she can't handle everything alone. I just want to make sure she's safe and unharmed. If you can, thank you.'
