Chapter 1
Ellie
What's the date?
---------------------------
I'm soon to be scared, cold, dead, and trapped. All by myself alone. And I am so not ready. T'was the Night before everything happened, and when all was well, noting hurt, nothing was bad. It was nice outside and the breeze felt nice against my pale cold skin. The other day it was raining cats and dogs, my shoes were muddy from the mushy wet ground as I walked in the yard looking for follows and what not. Spotting some here, there, and everywhere. I looked around the old place we had moved into on top of the mountain. I sighed as I saw an old fountain. It read words in French that I could not pronounce or read. I did not speak French. Uncle knew French. I ran inside, upstairs, to the 2nd floor, down the halls. I kept running and running. It was only 11 am, he was still okay and awake. For some reason I felt chased. As the words ran through my brain. My brain continued as I ran. I got to his door. Knock knock knock. "Bonjour Madam, what may I do for you?" Aunt said in her soft french accent as she opened the door. "Oh it's you. I'm sorry, I belived you were Mary." Mary, Mary Anne? She was Ill. She wasn't allowed out. "What can I do for you Ellie?" She asked. "How come you address Mary as madem but not me?" I was a bit upset. "No reason. Brother, come! The child wants you." She yelled going to the main hall. "Dear, what is the date?" The old man asked, about in his 70s, maybe even 80s. "It's Sept 17th, 1965." I was confused how'd he'd not know the date. "Oh my love, is my sweet alright..!" He yelled as a 3 year old came crying down the hall. "I have em the good old belt!" Aunt chuckled and shoved me aside. "Go read! Go on now! Go read your books!" I ran down the stairs one floor to the next. Down to the basement. I heard a slund and ran back up to the first floor. "Miss Ellie, are you alright?" The maid Florence asked, worried. Pale. Almost looking half dead! Oh God! I'm not ready to be old! "Sorry ma'am, may I have a cup of milk and bread?" I was scared but I spoke anyway. "Here, your milk and bread she said setting a cup and a plate on the table with a short but soft smile. She made me feel safe from everything, I mean everything ever in the whole world. I mean it was such a soft and kind smile, she's innocent, she must be. If she's not, I don't think I'll be here much longer. She's in the kitchen with lots of knifes. I thought as I ate my bread. She could has posied my milk, or my bread. Now I am scared. I hate being scared! Once I was down with my bread, miss Florence took my plate and cup "anymore?" She asked, "no thanks, I'm full. Thank you, though" I smiled and ran
upstairs right into James' friend, Miles "I'm so sorry Miles! Are you alright I asked before looking at my brother James. " Oh my Lord Ellie, are you okay? Your pale!" James asked in a worried voice as miles brushed himself off. " Nothing, I'm fine. Just the crying child scared me when it yelled." I lied because I didn't want them to know I was scared of dark and scary basements. Well I was more scared of what might be in the cold, dark, scary, creepy, freaky, and weird basements! All I saw was cobwebs and with that I ran to my room and dusted myself off as well as my walls and floors and anything I could dust off, I mean, I don't want cobwebs in my bedroom like EW EW GROSS! but after that, I lied down. "I need some rest I think" I said as I fell asleep.
