APPEARANCE.   serena is a young woman with a tall and slim build, hips slightly wide. she has fair skin with a slight warm undertone to it. she has straight thin brows, along with light brown eyes. serena tends to keep her makeup light, the focus point being her mascara that creates the effect of spiky lashes, as well as natural pink lip stains. her nose width is small, but remains flat with a small curve to it. her lips are plump, having a cupid's bow. her hair is dyed a natural shade of medium brown, angled bangs framing her face whilst her hair stops at her waist. post timeskip, serena's hair is transformed into a long wolf cut while keeping the same length and shade, along with curtain bangs.

PERSONALITY. serena is described as graceful by students, yet avoidant by many. the young woman is someone many people see as a mentor, an inspiration whether it be in academics, sports, or kindness. she's aware of the multiple eyes constantly watching her due to her unforeseen popularity. however, serena is distant and tries to escape the constant gaze of others. she's not someone who cares about any ongoing issues within the school, opting on focusing on her own goals and desires. due to this, many complain that she's hard to get along with. the lower grades draw her as another school beauty that rejects all in her path, when serena has little to no friendship or romance experience. she actively avoids all interaction and keeps it to a minimum, being the rare few to take volleyball too seriously for a high schooler. she prefers to converse with people who are more lowkey, but struggles trying to pursue them. serena will often perform acts of service over words of affirmation or public displays of affection.

BACKGROUND. born to a single mother who had moved out of vietnam two years after her birth, serena was a shy child compared to others. being a single parent was still a taboo issue, her peers judging her lack of father and her circumstances. determined to prove they were more than fine on their own, serena tried to relate to other experiences her classmates shared. her mother however, had begun dating in hopes to fill the hole in her heart. every week, serena would find her mother coming home with another man. at one point, serena was hopeful she'd receive a new father figure. but each man would leave as quickly as they came. growing distant from her mother, serena began to distrust men and avoid home. till the end of elementary, serena would stay after school if it had meant avoiding her mother and whatever man she currently was with. somehow, serena found herself joining the volleyball club in hopes it would distract her. but secretly, she hoped her mother would pay attention to her upon taking on a new skill. but for years, her mother hadn't noticed nor cared. at fourteen years old, serena's mother found a man she would settle down with, moving him into the house. this only caused serena to be angry at the change— or at least until her half brother was born. the birth of sato thanh or "theo" had flipped a switch within the girl. she enjoyed being an older sister, as well as having a father figure that treated her like blood. it was revealed her mother did notice serena join the volleyball team years ago, but never said anything due to her being good at it. though she initially planned to quit, serena decided to continue volleyball throughout high school.
