23. "100.23"

Kaila's POV

The feeling of uneasiness during the night always indicates that you can't sleep due to a preoccupation you have, it can be something that already happened and that you're dwelling on or it can be something that is going to happen and you can't wrap your mind around it, the feeling of extreme nervousness is excruciating to the mind. You can wake up with a killer headache or you'll simply be suffering from tiredness and you won't be able to function throughout the day.

This feeling followed me the whole night so when it came time to wake up I snoozed the alarm multiple times.

I don't know why, I'm not a superstitious person so I didn't believe that something would be happening in the near future, it's just that when I get something in my mind it's very difficult for me to let it go, I'm a huge over-thinker.

After a while I finally managed to get up and leave my bed. As usual Gavi is gone because it's a game day. Today Spain is facing Japan, as I forced myself up from bed and trudged into the bathroom I looked into the mirror and I saw myself.

My reflection scared me, I don't usually have eye bags but today was different. My skin was gloomy and I looked like a zombie.

Today is going to be a long day

I immediately hoped into the shower and spent quite a while in there, I really needed the time, to wake myself up and to convince myself that everything was fine.

When I got out I instantly felt renewed a shower was all that I needed. I dried my hair and did my face routine assuring to put on under eye patches so my eye bags wouldn't be as visible.

After all that I got dressed I wore Gavi's jersey and then I headed out, I felt like getting coffee and donuts because I was super hungry. I walked to the coffee shop that was near the hotel and I ordered a black coffee with extra caffeine.

I walked back to the hotel to meet up with my mom and siblings to go to the game together.

• Hola ma
(Hey mom)

• "Hola Kail- ayyy que te paso?! Te miras fatal"
(Hey Kail- ohh what happened?! You look terrible)

• No se, hoy me desperte asi.
(I don't know this is how I woke up) I said shrugging

• "Ay nooo mija, dejame chequear tu temperatura."
(Oh no, let me check your temperature)

As my mom checked my temperature her eyes grew wide.

• "Kaila! Pero te estas quemando! Tienes 100.23 (Fahrenheit) !"
(Kaila! You're burning up! You are at 100.23)

• Uff por eso no me siento bien.
(Ughhh that's why I'm not feeling well)

• "Pobrecita, tu no estas en condicion para ir al partido."
(Poor girl, you're in no condition to go to the game)

• Pero ma porfavor.
(But mom please)

• "Kaila hoy no, tienes demasiada fiebre
(Kaila not today, you have a high fever)

• Pero-
(But-)

• "Nada que pero's estas demasiado caliente, yo te voy a cuidar, vamos para tu cuarto."
(No but's you're burning up, I'll take care of you let's go to your room.)

• Ma pero vas a faltar el partido
(But you're going to miss the game)

• "La salud de mi hija es mas importante"
(The well being of my daughter is more important)
