Lily looked up at the sound of the doors sliding open while Loki remained unfazed, not lifting his head from the book he was reading.
"I see you're still battling it out." A voice said, their heavy footsteps coming towards Lily. Grant.
For fucks sake. Can this man not think of anyone else to mither. Lily thought to herself.
"It must be lonely down here with that mess, how about I stay and keep you occupied." Grant smirked.
"Actually, I quite like Loki's company." Lily said quickly.
"Suit yourself, but you and me do need to have a little chat." Grant knelt down beside Lily.
"I have to finish sorting the notes from Pepper's meeting." Lily answered.
"Then I will help you organise them," He bargained. The guy does not know when to give it up. Lily dreaded to think what another chat with Grant would mean. Would he threaten her? Perhaps S.H.I.E.L.D want to question her. Would he have told them? Lily had a job to do - that was watch Loki and finish her paperwork. At the end of the day, if the Avenger's wanted to speak to her, then they would. After all, they were her boss, not Grant Ward, a petty agent who has nothing better to do than pester a babysitter.
"Really I shouldn't, I need to get some work done and I could do without distractions." Lily tried to not pay attention to the man next to her and continued to staple Pepper's notes.
Her nerves were getting the better of her. Lily's hands began to shake slightly as she readjusted her grip on the stapler, which caught the attention of Loki. It's not that she wasn't capable of defending herself. She wanted to scream, shout, even slap him on the face. But she couldn't. She had learnt that fighting back only makes things worse.
"Don't forget about what will happen if you don't do as your told." Grant warned in her ear.
By this point Loki was stood up, watching the conversation intently. He had to bite his lip a few times to avoid saying anything. He didn't want to seem sentimental. Not that he was. Of course he wasn't. But the words came out his mouth before he could stop them.
"She doesn't need to speak to a filthy, disgusting mortal like you? If I was her I would have plucked those tiny eyes out of that caveman skull just to see if you have a brain in that dim-witted head of yours that clearly can't take a hint." Loki spitefully said, spitting out the words like they were venom.
Grant rose to his feet. He clenched his hands, his jaw tense. And smiled.
--------------------
Grant had opened Loki's cell and stepped inside. Loki stood smirking. He knew what was about to go down. He was going to enjoy it.
Grant threw a punch at Loki who caught his fist in his hand. Loki punched him in the stomach and then the throat. Before Lily knew it, Grant threw a kick to Loki's ribs. Loki barely made a sound or stumbled, while Grant was clearly feeling the full force of a God's hits. It was then that Loki noticed the fresh bite marks on the Agent's hand, having a small inkling at who caused them.
Grant confirmed Loki's suspicions, "Your babysitter has a good mouth on her. Shame someone might have to knock all those pretty teeth out if she doesn't keep quiet." Grant knew he slipped up, but was past the point of caring.
All Lily could do was stare in shock. She pressed the emergency call button hoping that someone could come and break this apart. She was at a loss of what to do. So she acted on instinct, knowing she had to stop them somehow. Lily ran into the cell, pushing herself in between the two of them. "Stop it! Both of you, stop fighting!" She begged.
