It was her first holiday as a soldier.....
She is home for Diwali....
When she received Alekh 's phone call
"Captain Rajveer was attacked last night...."
His words made her go numb....
'captain rajveer'
This name has great affect on her....
"How bad is it...."
She asked in a scary tone
"Right now he is being operated....
I have never been so scared...."
He said in a defeated tone.
"He will make it..... Alekh
I will be there by tomorrow"
Now this was unexpected for alekh.....
It's been a year since they graduated....
And she didn't parted with him with a hug and a smile....
She wasn't angry anymore... But neither she made peace with him...
She didn't had courage to face him
To admit that her hatred was false
He too decided to give her time and left the story incomplete.
There were days when he use to wonder about her .....
To approach her
To sort things out....
But he was scared of her rejection.....
Atleast now he has something to wonder upon.....
While she was fed up with her obsession over his thoughts....
No matter what she is doing, with whom she is talking or what she is thinking
He was always running in mind in background
It has become new normal for her.
But she never shared this with anyone
It's too late to make ammendment
To weird to go back to normal as if nothing happened....
And now as she is driving to Delhi at midnight leaving her parents all worried and confused
She is trying to comprehend her action
They haven't been in talking terms from months
However one phone call about his safety and she is on her way for him.
She has no idea how to explain this
She just need to see him breathing, in one piece... Nothing else matters.
It's important that he lives....

Alekh and ud were sitting in the waiting room when she announced herself on them.
Friends meeting after a long time exchange hugs
Comforting eachother on the given situation
"Where is he"?
She asked , all restless
"Under observation...... doctors kuch bata nahi rah sahi se"
Ud replied
Naina sat down with them
"Doctor ne bola
Ke unke family ko inform kar do....
Apun ne record check Kiya.... Sala koi nam hi nahi hai....
Apun ko lagta tha ke apan hi akela hai...."

Ud replied while naina sat their in silence waiting....

As she stood outside the ICU ward......
Looking at him from small glass window.....
His body looking so fragile with tubes and bandages......
The moniter reading her heartbeat
A man so lively once was still as rock
She recalled those initial days in KMA
His spark around the cadets
His aura
His positive patriotism
His strict yet friendly approach
Abiding by the rules but also breaking them when necessary
And last but not the least, his unconditional support.....
She survived the budding phase in Kma because of him ....
She kept looking at him....
For the first time looking back from his perspective
She felt a hand on his shoulder and Alekh asked for her attention
"I have something for you"
He extended an envelope in his hand
She took it with a question mark on her face
"Apun sir ke sath tha us mission mein
Final stage pe Jane se pehle sir ne mujhe ye letter tujhe deno ko bola tha
Sir ko idea tha ke Aisa kuch ho sakta hai....
Sir ne bola tha ke agar unhe kuch ho jaye to main ye tujhe dedun"
Saying this he left her with the letter in her hand.
Her heart was throbbing against her ribcage
She looked for an isolated corner and sat there opening the envelope
As she started reading she could hear his voice in her ears.

I have so many things to say to you
Par himmat nahi hai......
Sabse pehle i am sorry I lied to you about naveen 's death....
Mere pas aur koi rasta nahi tha
Main janta tha sach jante hi tum mujhe khud se dur kar dogi.....

Tumhari narazgi tumhari nafrat sab jayaz hai
Tum mujhe zindagi bhar maaf na karo... Ye bilkul galat nahi hoga....
But hate is a strong emotion naina
When we hate someone, that hate damage us equally....
Aur naveen ki sachchai Tak pohochne ke liye
Tumhe nafrat ki nahi..... Himmat ki , focus ki atmvishwas ki aur apne doston ki zarurat padegi....
I know you are angry....and
Anger is an asset, use it well naina
Main itna important nahi hun ke tum apna gussa apni energy mujh pe zaya karo....
Do what is best for you Naina
If you are reading this letter than it means that either i am dead or about to die....
So you see I don't matter anymore
It's all about you

She didn't realise she was shedding tears untill it started dropping on the letter
She wiped them away and fresh one oze out
Brimming her eyes
He played his part as a mentor

It took her a while to summon courage to go and sit beside him.
He was stable but not yet out of danger
There is still threat to his life
It seems like he is asleep
After a long exhausting journey
She too his hand in hers holding it consciously
Registering his touch
Learning how it feels.
This is the very hand that killed her brother
But this is also the hand that kept on holding her not letting her fall.
The hand that was there to guide her when she was lost
The hand that gave her shelter when she was deserted by everyone
She can't say anymore whats right and whats wrong....
Somethings are beyond the conventional concepts of morality.
Its not wrong or right
Black or white
There are so many shades of grey.....
She is fighting a battle within herself
Her whole body is in conflict with itself right now
There are so many constructs she need to reform
She need to prepare herself to accept the fact that he killed her brother and yet he is not the one to blame.
She kept looking at his face
It was so innocent
That she almost felt a lump in her throat
She bend down to kiss his forehead
Pecking him with all the affection to let him know that she is there
That she understands, she cares, she is in position to challenge her old beliefs
