Biana's POV

"Hey, Bi!" a voice called out as I shut the door of my locker in Foxfire High. It was morning, and I was picking up my math textbook and notebook before heading to class.

"Hey, Soph!" I responded as the brown-eyed blondie walked into view. She already had her books in hand.

"You ready to go yet?" she asked. "It's almost 9:30!"

"Yeah, yeah, just gimme a sec—"

A locker door slammed shut in the row of lockers behind me. I turned around to find the one and only Tam Song standing there, looking hot as usual. He seemed to be muttering something about evil lockers.

Looking at him, I probably blushed. His silver-tipped bangs flopped cutely over his eyes, and his dark black (yes, of course there's such a thing; just look at Tam!) sweater hung loosely over his frame.

Now, being the most popular girl in school, I had the ability to date anyone I wanted, and the fact that everyone wanted to date me helped in my choice of boys. So I didn't understand why couldn't ask Tam out. He was just another boy in the sea of students, right? Nothing special. We've even hung out before! So I don't know why asking him seemed extra–hard.

Sophie looked between him and me, and wiggled her eyebrows. "Sooo, are you ever gonna tell him?" she asked excitedly.

"Of course not!" I replied hastily. "He's . . ." I struggled to find the right words to describe him, but failed. I just sighed in response.

She laughed. "Sooner or later, you'll get together! I heard Jake Corton say Tam was talking about you, though . . ." Sophie raised her eyebrows. I blushed, then shoved the thought out of my head.

"Well, It's 9:28. We should probably get going!" I quickly responded.

Sophie sighed, then shook her head. "Whatever, Biana." We then raced down the hallway together, laughing as we ran to first period before we were late.

Tam's POV

I scanned the room. No sign of Biana. I sighed. I was hoping to see her today, to try and actually talk to her this time, not just stupid small talk. Or, if I was too scared to do that, then at least glimpse her long brown hair and beautiful teal eyes. I slouched in my seat.

"Ok, class, please open to page 431 in your textbooks. Today, we'll be starting Unit 3, which is trigonometry, so get your protractor and ruler out, please." Ms. Terryn wrote a few formulas on the board, then turned around to face us. "Please copy these down as well." We did as we were instructed, but then, two girls ran into the room. It was Biana Vacker and Sophie Foster.

"Sorry we're late!" apologized Biana. The sound of her voice was like a sweet melody. Her hair hung around her face like soft drapes, still swinging around from running.

Ms. Terryn replied, "It's fine, girls. Just please be on time tomorrow."

"Yeah, sorry," Sophie muttered. The two took a seat.

Ms. Terryn explained trigonometry, and everyone took a decent amount of notes by the end of the lesson. We were expected to turn in the notes, which was probably what motivated everyone, but Ms. Terryn promised we'd get them back before the unit test.
