"You ready, Jakey?" My mom asked, strapping me in.

"Yup!" I was practically jumping in the passengers seat.

It was my Third Year of Karate classes.
As a black belt, I had won first place in multiple contests, both last year and the year before, and this would be my first of the new year.

My mom had shut the door as she climbed into the drivers seat.

Upon leaving the driveway and joining the main road. My mom had handed me some snacks, preparing me for the long drive ahead.

The contest was being held outside of the Reservation and past the sleepy town of Forks.

After around 20 minutes, something terrible happened.

All I can remember is the screech of car tires , the sound of an explosive and the bright light that enveloped my vision.

"Mom,"

I yelled out, from under some rubble.

"MOM, Where are you!?" Tears stinging my eyes, I look over to the pile of flaming scrap metal that was once our car.

I run towards the vehicle, despite the ringing in my ears and ache in my body.

I need to know she was okay.

I needed to know that she was alive.

When I found her body, I couldn't breathe. The air felt suffocating and I felt empty emotionally.

My Mother.

Who raised me, Cared for me, Loved me,
was now nothing more than a mass of flesh and blood.

By the time I registered the sound of footsteps behind me, I had blacked out.
